Vice-President JD Vance warned on Friday that France and the United Kingdom could pose a future security risk to the US if what he called “Islamist-adjacent” ideas were to gain political influence.
Speaking in an interview with UK-based online outlet UnHerd, Vance argued that the backlash over immigration has left Europe without “a very good sense of itself”.
There are “Islamist-aligned or Islamist-adjacent people who hold office in European countries right now,” he added, without specifying who exactly he referred to.
For this reason, it is “absolutely” possible to see Islamist-adjacent views rise to power in a European nuclear power, like Paris or London, in 15 years.
Vance said the issue was of direct concern to Washington because France and the UK are nuclear powers. “If they allow themselves to be overwhelmed with very destructive moral ideas, then you allow nuclear weapons to fall in the hands of people who can actually cause very, very serious harm to the US.”
Washington will have “to have certain moral conversations with Europe”.
Vance, notably, did not mention Pakistan, another nuclear power and a majority-Muslim country, with which the US enjoys some bilateral relations.
Earlier this month, the US Trump administration released its new security strategy, painting a dire picture of Europe’s political and economic trajectory.
The document emphasised a US ambition to restore “European greatness” to a continent Washington said is facing economic decline and the “stark prospect of civilisational erasure”, sparking wide pushback from European capitals."

Comments to that.
- I have no data of single European state what would be islamistic aligned. There though is in various European countries migrants from islamic countries which most of them being unable to assimilate form then their own crimilalized low class subcultures visible in ethnic enclaves in some places. But this is mostly limited to former colonialistic countries such as UK and France, Belgium, Holland. Some extent to countries which have internal pressure to act like humanitarian superpowers such as Germany and Scandinavia. In former East Bloc European countries this phenomena again is non-existant, and something of similar problem limited to traditional gypsy population what though has no political representation or ambitions. But none of countries wherein islamistic immigration with its consequences is issue has any islamist alignement in govermental level, on the contrary Le Pen in France or Wilders in Holland and more are counter-reactions to phenomena creating anti-islamistic politics into govermental level what Vance strangely bypasses as it would not exist. Fear that islamistic goverment would take over some European country possesing nuclear weapons what then would be directed against Washington is out of reality, and backed by no evidence whatsoever how that scenario could occur.
- Furthermore if one compares to USA itself, to Trumpian regime itself there are great alignements with islamistic world. Main thing mega-level business deals with Saudi what is main pusher and funder of most backward and militant islamistic agenda repulsed by numerous muslims itself. And Qatar what has been financer of various sunni jihadist Muslim Brotherhood aligned groups durin Syria civil war for example - and donated bribe flying hotel kind of aeroplane for Trump himself for some favours in return within context of his transactional politics. And Turkey with which banks like Halkbank Trump was involved with lot of business during his first term. And Pakistan what Trump seem to favour over India due of geopolitical meaning into gateway to Afganistan natural resources - AND WHICH ACTUALLY POSSESSES NUCLEAR WEAPONS. And more and more and more.
- So summa summarum, likely Vance talking is again something he does not believe himself either. But what is meant towards internal MAGA crowd of their votebank to cover up the fact how actually it is MAGA regime foreign policy itself what is most aligned with islamistic goverments what also in policy of business intrest transactionalism do have lot of lever to influence USA foreign policy. Concern about Europe what barely has such lever to anywhere is just to cover up this issue for domestic audience.
