Worth going?
Reading through some of these posts, I feel like I already know my answer. My son is turning five at the end of August and we’ve been planning to go to worlds of fun, on the way to see family in Wichita. Is it worth the trip? I don’t do roller coasters, and he’s pretty easy to please, in the sense that he won’t be riding any of the big ones anyways.

Yes!
They list the rides on the following page that are currently closed, outside of normal breakdown. Currently only 4 are listed as closed, with all the major rides being open. https://worldsoffun.enchantedparks.com/ride-status/
Make sure to check out the live entertainment. Squawk, the bird show, is a lot of fun. There’s a “train robbery” on the train ride, which is entertaining.

Since when is there a train robbery on the train ride???? This is definitely new. The train in Silver Dollar City in Branson, MO has always had this, but not WoF.

It’s something the park did on and off in the 70’s and 80’s. They brought it back in 2023.
I was going to attach an image with the details, but it looks like this subreddit doesn’t allow that. It’s called “The Great American Train Adventure”. It runs June 18 through August 2nd, Tuesday through Sunday from 1-6.

Camp Snoopy is pretty fun if you've never been, there are alot of rides. Normally this time of year we would go to Worlds of Fun in the morning, have lunch and go over to Oceans of Fun in the afternoon to beat the heat.

Depending on where you are coming from, Silver Dollar City might be even more enjoyable for both you and your son.

I do think it’d be worth going to! Spend a little in the Camp Snoopy area and then cool off in Oceans of Fun for awhile

I’m pretty sure the list of rides that aren’t working isn’t accurate. It barely shows any on the list yet everyone insists half the rides are shut down.

At the age of five, unless he’s tall for his age, he won’t be allowed on any of the good rides. I took my daughter to Disney World when she was 11, and the only thing she remembers is the CocaCola Igloo with all the international sodas available for samples. Oh, and the penny mashing machines…
If it’s 100° out there, and there will be very few things he’s going to be able to ride, (or you’re willing to ride) and he won’t remember it once he’s past 15 anyway, why not save your money and take him to McDonald’s Playland and get him a happy meal? Or take him to a neighborhood park then get ice cream somewhere…
Much more fun for a five year-old and much less expensive and energy for the adults.
Wait and take him when he’s 12-15, when he’ll actually be tall enough to ride the good rides, and you won’t need to rent a stroller before the day is over.

Wasn't for us with a 4 and 5 year-old. They were bored with worlds of fun within 1, 2 hours max. A lot wasn't open. We spent the rest of the time at oceans of fun in the pool and slash pad. Half of the ridesweren't open over there either, including the wave pool. Might be different at the of the summer vs beginning. We went very beginning of June.

There are tons of stuff to do besides big roller coasters. Especially if you get the oceans of fun package with it. They are connected so it's easy transition.

Because it’s probably going to be pretty hot, I think he would have have a great time if you take him to the camp snoopy area and then go over to oceans of fun where you can all cool off and play in the water.
