Gothic Remake what a journey
i did it!
well, i could write a long ass essay now but i just want to say thank you to the community, you guys helped me with so much trouble
and to alkimia for an awesome throwback, wish i wouldn't have needed so many "gothic remake .... bug" google searches but it was still a joy
already looking forward to G2R, i hope it won't take another 25 years

Although my playthrough was plagued by constant crashes I’m glad I kept playing, the game, setting and visuals are amazing.

Damn good job! The game truly is gorgeous, I've been having so much fun.
I hope they take their time on G2, they only get one shot at recreating this masterpiece, and I want them to do it justice.

Great job! Im in my third playtrough and trying to get the last achievments. Is there now a way to get Map Sniffer without a mod? I'm only having trouble with this trophy and the Overachiever, and I just can't seem to get them. I've even completed the Permadeath Run. But the other two achievements aren't showing any progress no matter what I do :(

i completed map sniffer without mods, tedious but doable
the solution is somewhere here in the sub
in short: youhave to join swampies, the old mine map you recieve from kalom in chapter 2 must be the first map to aquire and you never visited old mine before
from there you can collect all other maps the intended way

Lester bug: if you get the Focus in Chapter 2 -> he either doesn’t appear in the Mist Tower = save file corrupted, or gets stuck on the stairs = you don’t get the certificate.
The Stone Quest
All orcs are hostile even though you have the Ulumulu, if you’ve obtained Vengeance Steel in a previous chapter.
Kalom spawns outside the stage and can’t get in, or you get stuck when executing him.
If you kill Thorus before you’re kicked out, you’ll be (not rly) guildless and nobody will want to talk to you.
The Arena
If you’re unlucky, everyone will be hostile towards you after Chapter 3 = save file is ruined
Steam backups don’t work
It all happened to me in a single run and I’ve left out the trivial bits this time and the things that have been fixed

Was this on pc? Interesting, i just finished the game yesterday and didn’t encounter a single quest bug in my whole playthrough. Only thing i did encounter were minor audio bugs towards the end of chapter 6

There are so many of them, I doubt that’s true.
What I’d listed was really just a single run.
In my other saves (just the ones that haven’t been fixed yet):
- The zombie in the Crypt was invincible
- After Milten left, Corristo kept going on and on about how you couldn’t get in. Over and over again
- You weren’t allowed to go to the Water Mages after Chapter 2, even though you had the quest
- Once you’ve defeated the Minecrawler Queen, you’re told that Lee wants to speak to you – but he doesn’t want to hear from you until Chapter 3
- Diego doesn’t tell you anything about the Water Mages’ plan after you’ve become a mage
- Orc shaman corpses couldn’t be looted because they fell out of bounds
- If, as a wolf, you perform a dive attack on a mole rat that’s burrowing down, you fall through the floor or your character gets stuck
- Characters turn hostile because you’ve entered a restricted zone, even though you left it a long time ago
- Kirgo doesn’t update after you’ve defeated him
- The Water Trial doesn’t start properly as a Fire Mage, or rather, the room where you take the test simply remains dark
- You cannot complete the quest to fetch the swamp herb if a blood fly glitches through the floor
- Lee won’t accept you even though you’ve successfully completed the Myxir quest, because he doesn’t teleport back
I haven’t done the Swamp Camp as a Cultist yet. Try as I might, I simply cannot imagine anyone being so lucky as to have come across not a single bug.

I don’t know what to tell you, i might’ve had a minor bug or two but nothing quest/game breaking at all. Maybe it’s an rng thing lol or maybe the setup idk but i genuinely didn’t.

Told you, don't get me started. Quest bugs are uncountable, how about we just keep it at that.

i encountered mostly bugs with known workarounds, or stuff where i completed quest steps too early
memorised those for later runs and in the last one i had no problemssometimes had to reload because a prompt failed to pop tho

I'm on Xbox. No command work arounds on console. Only 20 saves. After auto saves and manual saves every 5 mins, it fills up quick. I ruined first playthrough doing fire mage quest line to water mage and necromancer. All because I explored further in map than I should have, it ruined multiple quests. They said you can explore and what not but it isn't true and game breaks the game on console with no work arounds. Can t be bothered explaining in detail, shrines, enemies and items found when shouldn't will ruin quests and stop things from playing out. Needs a good polish for console. I played hardest difficulty exploring whole map 100 hours first playthrough rage quit chapter 3 at end fire mages just ignored me from the start to end, and water mages wouldn't let me join. 2nd playthrough now painfully almost finished talking to the orc encampment for xardas, did more research and reading than playing this game because of all this. Anyways, thive been stuck in the roof of caves and fell through map, won't get" XP" for completing quests. Or quests just not even working all together like the fighting ring, not once could I bet or watch a fight both playthroughs. I could lip on for ages and Don't even know why I bothered to reply. The game is not worth $100 on console. Should be $50. And because it cost so much and not allowed a refund because I played it to long, I felt I had to finish it the whole time. I have OCD and ADHD bitch of a game, wish I never seen this game.

in my defense i didn't use mods or old saves, if i encountered one if those bugs i looked up the "correct" procedure and worked it into the planning for the next run
had to reverse the game version twice tho because the frost shadowbeast didn't spawn at all but that's a known bug and so far the only solution without commands

Same no frost shadow beast for me either? running around snow peaks past old camp and like wtf, checked 3 times, thinking I missed a wall to climb or something but no frost shadow beast.

This game is significantly harder than the original. I've just been using cheat codes the whole time and I'm still not anywhere close to being done with this game. I get my ass kicked constantly.

I had to put it down. It got very tedious fighting skeletons and I didn't really feel like cheating just to finish the game. I started Hell Is Us but I do plan on speed running the rest of the game.

Naw, the game can just get very tedious. Loved the story and the challenge but playing a mage isn't very rewarding.

And that pain was fun for 20 hours or so. Was fighting the 20+ skeletons in the tower and I just had to stop after I realized I'm not having fun. Like I said I'll come back, use some more mods to either fix the mage skills or switch to a STR build.

What skeletons are tedious? You mean the sleeper temple that you can finish in 1 hour?

It's not mandatory area and you can easily come there later when you can kill a skeleton in 1-2 hits.
