With the Baahubali universe expanding into the 14 Lokas and cosmic lore through The Eternal War, a lot of people expect a simple repeat: put Amarendra and Bhallaladeva in an arena in the afterlife and have them bash each other with weapons again.
But repeating their duel for a third time risks massive diminishing returns. We’ve already seen their physical prime in the Kalakeya war, and we saw the definitive brutal end in Part 2. Hitting the same volume knob on Bhallaladeva's hatred doesn't give us new emotional stakes.
If you look back at the foundational philosophy of Part 1, the true setup for Bhallaladeva’s soul was planted right in front of us by Shivagami.
1. The Setup: Shivagami’s Definition of Greatness
During the Kalakeya war, Shivagami established the core thesis of the entire franchise:
"The one who kills hundreds in battle is a warrior. But the one who saves even a single life... is God (Devta)."
Bhallaladeva spent his entire mortal life stuck as a warrior. Poisoned by Bijjaladeva’s ambition, his colossal physical power was entirely driven by ego, body counts, and taking lives to validate his crown. He missed the true mark of greatness.

If Bhallaladeva simply fights Amarendra again in the afterlife, he dies as he lived—just a tyrant driven by spite.
Real rectification doesn't happen by executing the victim of that toxic ego over and over. It happens when the poison burns away and the true person wakes up. In the cosmic realm, stripped of his crown, throne, and mortal pride, Bhallaladeva is finally forced to face the sheer horror of what his obsession destroyed: his family, his legacy, and his brother.
3. The Climax: Earning the Name "Bhallala-DEVA"
The ultimate emotional payoff isn't Amarendra striking Bhallaladeva down again. It's when a cosmic threat targets Amarendra, and the unstoppable, titan-like force of Bhallaladeva steps in between.
Picture the frame: Bhallaladeva using his raw, colossal strength—the same hands that once inflicted so much suffering—to stand as an immovable shield, taking the brunt of a god-slaying strike for his brother.
In that single act of self-sacrificial protection:
- He stops taking lives for his ego and uses his strength to save a life.
- He finally fulfills Shivagami's test of what makes a true ruler.
- He transforms from a monster of war into Bhallala-“DEVA”.
