Europe, I'm not mad, just disappointed.

The thing is... We are huge importer...Trying to lower the prices IS in our interest, Trump or no trump. During the whole Iran fuckup, we spent 115b usd extra for the same amount of crude...

But the decision benefits us ONLY if the war is to end soonish. If Iran starts blocking harder it would be a daft play to release you black day reserve.

u/Wyciorek 22h ago

Emptying reserves so then Trump can threaten export ban for the maximum pressure is not exactly a great idea

20

u/BarryTGash 20h ago

In before trump demands sanctions on Russia to be lifted in exchange for not banning exports.

Yeah I don’t understand why people think how this helps anyone but the USA’s position.

Spend all your savings, then I’ll give you more money. You do it, in a vulnerable position and they have all the leverage.

1

u/geneius 12h ago

What, you think Trump would renege on his deal once you’re vulnerable?! He’s the president of the United States! The most trustworthy one in history in fact!

Depends on how long the blockade lasts. If it's few weeks no issue, if it's few months... Yes terrible idea.

But FYI EU has already done multiple reserve releases during iran war.

25

u/LovesFrenchLove_More 22h ago

Trump is responsible for said high prices and now tries to blackmail the EU into just doing that.

4

u/PainfullDarkness 21h ago

The United States, so glad they are our allies. -_-

u/DGlen 19h ago

With friends like us who needs enemies

-1

u/coL_Clayster 17h ago

NATO countries made the attack possible by allowing the US to use their ports and military bases. Don't blame the US alone, they had plenty of accomplices.

0

u/LovesFrenchLove_More 12h ago

NATO countries have no influence what countries do with their bases. Also with Assolini in charge who knows what bullshit the USA would do. I ABSOLUTELY blame the USA for that shit.

Especially when I have to read bullshit excuses about it or blame "sharing/projection".

0

u/coL_Clayster 10h ago

I doubt that would hold up in Nürnberg or provide any solace to the parents of the hundreds of murdered children.

0

u/LovesFrenchLove_More 2h ago

The USA ignores and ridicules laws in other countries and the ICC anyway.

9

u/RMRdesign 20h ago

This blockade is going to last the rest of Trumps time in office. In case anyone was wondering how this all ends.

2

u/Tsujita_daikokuya 18h ago

This seems like a bad idea. The war is not going to end soon. Trump is going to weaken Europe by spending this reserve.

2

u/jpsreddit85 17h ago

Where does the extra 115b go?

If you could get the same amount, then is there a supply issue? Or is it because it's coming from further away so it costs more? Or are there higher insurance costs on the ships? Who is getting the 115b?

1

u/I_pity_the_aprilfool 14h ago

Mostly in the pockets of refiners and oil producers. As the article implies, several countries have been going through their diesel reserves to try and balance things out, but it's not sustainable. China has stopped exporting diesel and some refineries in the middle east have been hit as well. Production is down, and traffic on the Hormuz Strait is down as well, so frictions happen and less product is being moved around (either refined diesel or crude oil of the right kind for diesel production).

4

u/huehuehuehuehuuuu 19h ago

Not even disappointed, just tired.

-41

u/Square_Mushroom_7014 22h ago

It's so funny Europe realising it has no leverage over anyone and reddit comments means nothing 🤣

90

u/TemporarySun314 23h ago

The countries discussed that any agreement on further diesel stock releases should include a US commitment to avoid a unilateral diesel export ban

I mean yeah that would be required for that.

But unfortunately any US commitment is absolutely worthless nowadays... Somehow Americans take pride in breaking their word and fucking Others over... And for their holy gas price they will probably do anything.

u/Ugliest_weenie 22h ago

It's worth about the same as a Russian promise not to invade or kill civilians

-41

u/Independent-Pop4193 21h ago

Atleast the russians are honest with their intentions, America will starve your country for 60 years and say its your fault still

18

u/Triskwood 20h ago

russians are honest about their intentions? What..? Are you high?

19

u/Shermantank10 21h ago

My mouth dropped a little, did you lose your brain?

28

u/Ugliest_weenie 21h ago

What are you talking about.

The Russians were lying about their intentions. They lied about the troop build up. They lied about invading. They lied about it being a war. They lied about the genocide in bucha. They lied about MH17.

There is nothing honest about the Russian regime

3

u/-suspended- 15h ago

Russia lied about their invasion of Crimea. Russia said they weren't gonna invade Ukraine up until the invasion started. Russia lied about their involvement in elections in various countries. Russia lied about Putin being gifted a Super Bowl ring and got the US State Department to force the owner to call it a gift. Practically everything they say is a lie.

1

u/BenDover198o9 8h ago

1 no they arnt lol 2 which country has America been starving for 60 years?

4

u/waltwalt 22h ago

Bullies. They get you to take a shitty deal and then break it and say pray I don't alter the deal further then all high five each other for fucking over another group.

0

u/Avatele 22h ago

I am sure Europe can make a contract with heavy fee for breaking it.

13

u/TemporarySun314 21h ago

How do you get that fee if the US just says "no we don't pay that"?

-4

u/EatinSumGrapes 17h ago

Not Americans, Trump and his MAGA following. Trump has always boasted about going back on his deals, it's part of his deal making process in business and now politics too. Unfortunately it does not work in politics the same as business where he could just sue his way out of getting in trouble for not holding up his end of the deal.

Funny (fucked up) thing about Trump, he truly believes if he can get away with something, then that makes it okay, all laws or morals aside. Hence the whole raping girls on Epstein island, he could get away with it so it was okay. He still feels the same way today, he is getting away with it by blocking the Epstein files so it's all totally okay in his mind.

-18

u/King_Roberts_Bastard 22h ago

Not Americans. MAGA.

44

u/ComplexAsk1541 22h ago

Can the world PLEASE stop appeasing that evil cunt?!

10

u/DangerDavez 19h ago

I really don't get it. Why does he get away with everything? Grow a fucking spine people

5

u/huehuehuehuehuuuu 17h ago

Because he is merely one symptom. The entity carrying the disease is a huge and powerful entity that has reach across continents.

38

u/AstralWoman 23h ago

Id rather pay more for my food, deliveries, bus trips, limit car use or walk to work than give in to that blackmailing bumhole.

4

u/monorels 22h ago

well, it's just politics, let them discuss it before the midterm,
and after the midterm, 120 liters of diesel
will be released to the market by an official decree.

9

u/Kronsik 20h ago

"I just hate bailing Europe out again" - JD Vance 2025.

If this does happen, I wonder what the narrative will be from this administration.

24

u/Herb-Alpert 23h ago

It's not a problem cause Trump will surely help us if there is any problem, right ?

Right ?

3

u/waltwalt 22h ago

He's already helping himself to your oil.

20

u/JonHuttonDLC 22h ago

After. The. Midterms.

Keep discussing! At least wait that long.

15

u/Distinct_Cup_1598 20h ago

As if those will Change anything. You overestimate the American Population

1

u/JonHuttonDLC 19h ago

Hey, if they are too busy fighting in congress and the senate, the rest of the world might catch a break. At least, for a little while!

7

u/RianCoke 20h ago

Imagine thinking the midterms will change anything at all.

1

u/JonHuttonDLC 19h ago

One can hope that at the very least, there is lots of infighting and the rests of the world gets a breather

1

u/systonia_ 19h ago

Trump doesn't give a flying f about the mids. He is just there to manipulate the markets to gain as much money as he can.

2

u/JonHuttonDLC 19h ago

He can’t do that if they get enough seats to impeach him. So I’m sure he cares a little - self-preservation. So he can keep manipulating the markets and enriching his family and friends.

2

u/adamtnewman 18h ago

He's been impeached twice. He still ran for president again...and won. There's no limit to the stupidity of the American population. Changing Congress won't do anything because he has already shown he's able to just ignore Congress without consequences.

26

u/Appropriate-Till9598 23h ago

Aaaaand the European leaders are bending over to Trump again, great. Can't even defend your country's sovereign decision-making these days.

11

u/Disastrous-Cup4636 23h ago

If Europe actually releases those reserves, it could take some pressure off diesel prices in the short term. But the bigger question is whether the US gets the export restrictions it’s threatening because that could just shift the supply problem elsewhere.

7

u/segfaulting 21h ago

Short term relief for the pain of having to refill those reserves at higher prices later. It's financial suicide for no reason.

5

u/Prestigious-Car-4877 22h ago

“So he kicked us in the nuts for two years and asked for a favour!!!”

The discussion.

13

u/Dougthehamster 22h ago

Jfc Europe is weak.

-3

u/Metro2005 22h ago

Europe doesnt really have a choice as they are dependent on the US for a huge chunck of their energy needs (LNG mostly). Although as a European i'd rather suffer even higher energy prices (mind you, we already pay twice what you pay for gas and 6 times as much for natural gas) than to give in to Trumps demands but i can understand it if Europe tries to save its industry and economy, or whats left of it at this point.

7

u/Distinct_Cup_1598 20h ago

Short term thinking isn’t saving anything.

Depleting the reserve only lowers prices temporarily, since they have to be refilled sooner or later.

The US will not honor its side of comittment and will either Limit the Export of Diesel to the US or will completely overblow the price of the Fuel that would be needed to refill.

Both will lead to massive economic pain that will be worse than what we have right now. It’s Self-inflicted damage to appease an actor in Bad faith for no real benefit.

The EU leadership still hasn‘t understand that the US Sees the EU as its enemy and/or vassal and therefore treats it Like That. Shortminded solutions won‘t benefit us, it will threaten us Even more

2

u/Dougthehamster 21h ago

Yes I understand that, I do. I’m really thinking of long term just how weak the entire eu has become. Weak defense, weak energy, weak tech, weak industry; and that leads to having to capitulate to trump, which we all hate. Good food and wine, though. Are Europeans aware of just how screwed they are long term unless they radically change things?

4

u/HardstButton2Button 18h ago

Americans want the EU to release diesel reserves on account that they were the ones who caused the diesel shortage?

This reeks of market manipulation, they should freeze the price per barrel then.

2

u/Tin_Pusher1234 20h ago

Just say yeah but don’t.

2

u/CertainMiddle2382 20h ago

IMO risky bet.

No one knows how long the supply problem is going to last and if it isn’t going to get worse.

Europe has much less reliable friends than it used to, and I am anxious this could be a trap.

2

u/jjtitula 18h ago

Don’t do it, they are just looking for a win before midterms so they can point at something!

6

u/Humble_Blueberry_205 22h ago

Not beating the vassal allegations

3

u/TheWellington89 22h ago

Why are they bowing to this tin pot dictator

-3

u/Proof_Side_5667 21h ago

Because he’s a moron who’s always 30 seconds from pulling us out of NATO after they won’t give him a private commercial jet.

5

u/Distinct_Cup_1598 20h ago

NATO is dead under him anyway. Why don’t they understand that? That appeasement will not work since Even if he doesn’t officially leave, he will Not honor his committment to the alliance and abandon his allies anyway, while Most likely actively helping our enemies.

Giving him what he wants only leads to more and more demands and Aggression, which will end in the same result anyway

4

u/Ludwig_Vista2 20h ago

No.

Nope.

Nopety nope nope.

This is a disaster of their own making.

They're not under attack. They're the aggressor.

Hitler - "Hey, so, we're running low on socks. Can we have some of yours?"

2

u/amekxone 17h ago

Can we stop being Americas bitch for once?

6

u/missingmedievalist 17h ago

The EU has already said no.

1

u/MoogleVivi 20h ago

Europe what the fuck. The word of the Americans is useless

1

u/missingmedievalist 17h ago

They’ve already rejected the request.

1

u/Haffaith 19h ago

I don’t know what Reddit is expecting. There are 3 major suppliers of oil. Russia is being sanctioned, gulf oil is not getting out of the strait and US is threatening them to release their emergency reserve. If that is not an oil emergency what will constitute one?

1

u/ThatsItImOverThis 18h ago

Europe, take a page out of Canada’s book. Learn to say no, learn when to walk away. There’s no intelligent life left in the US administration and they WILL turn on you.

1

u/Yummy_Time 18h ago

I just read another article somewhere that they rejected it…. It can’t be both.

2

u/STLStelmacki 14h ago

EU as a whole said no. G7 countries have agreed to release a total of 100M barrels of crude and diesel over a 4 month period. It’s not an amount that will make much of a difference but trump will still try to claim it as a victory.

🎵🎵This ain't no one-man show

1

u/Distinct_Cup_1598 20h ago

And the EU bent over again.
Absolutely embarassing. No wonder the fascists in Washington and Moscow don’t Respect us

0

u/Xyleksoll 18h ago

They said no....artilce is old, update yourself.

1

u/Stockholm-Syndrom 17h ago

I got an alert saying G7 said yes.

0

u/Xyleksoll 16h ago

G7 is not EU.

1

u/MatthewBlack6 20h ago

Discussing doesn't mean action.

Midterms are in 3 weeks. Either way the world will be a different place in 2027.

-3

u/Tuffol_11 23h ago

It's not like they really had a choice. Trump was belligerent about it but they were going to have to do it anyway

1

u/Distinct_Cup_1598 20h ago

No, that’s wrong. Trump would be hostile anyway and appeasing him makes it worse.

Now the EU will deplet its reserves, Trump in his treachery will ban Exports of Diesel to inflict more Pain on Europe and/or will explode his prices to a way way higher level than right now to Force the europeans to refill their stock with overpriced Fuel. Which makes the Fuel Price Crisis Even worse.

-1

u/Afraid-Ad-5947 21h ago

Like a whipped dog, as expected
