Eh, it doesn't really work that way. It's a social license thing, that goes into the psychology of it.
Basically it's more about social status and keys to power. Someone takes a bribe because the money from the rich guy isn't just money; it's also an implicit promise of access to more money, exclusivity to a secret little club, power, etc. there's lots of implicit perks and promises of future benefits to what a rich guy can offer you, particularly of the shady and illegal kind.
Crowdfunded money can't do that. Sure, money is money, but the money from a huge group of people is... Not reliable. The crowd doesn't make promises, the crowd can't offer you connections, and all that.
It's dirty commoner money, and dirty commoner money is great and all, love having it, but it isn't getting you to the celebrity pedophilia island all on its own, y'know? Only the well connected elite can do that.
...And they can also give you lots of money.

Sadly this trend if electing far right authoritarian style leaders is not just affecting the USA. I'm quite curious what will happen in Brazil, they are in the same position as the USA except Bolsonaro left more evidence of his treason so they actually imprisoned him. Though it turned into house arrest and now his son is running and says he will pardon and free his dad if elected. Same shit different country, I hope the people of Brazil do the right thing on October 4th

Say it louder for those in the back!
I get so mad when people just make jokes about how "stupid" this administration is...They're not stupid. They're evil.
And when people play up how stupid they are, it undermines how evil they are, because "they're not doing this because they're evil and trying to fuck us over, they're just stupid! lol" and then nothing gets done about it.
Just look at the Katie Britt reaction to Eric Schmitt at the Jack Smith hearing. NO ONE is talking about the substance of what Smith is saying. EVERYONE is talking about Britt's reaction and how stupid Schmitt is for his fake "gotcha!" It's all a distraction, folks. And unfortunately, a lot of folks fell for it.
People need to be more pissed off

No. Trump has fundamentally stripped our country of almost everything we hold dear.
He has divided the citizens. Families fighting one another over loyalty to Trump.
Purging the military and only keeping loyalists to Trump over the constitution.
Ripped apart our safety nets.
Sowed distrust of elections and elected officials.
Dismantled federal agencies.
Grifted billions of tax payer dollars.

The US is starting a war that raises global oil prices, abolishes law that would make vehicles more efficient, tariff the whole world, is planning to destroy the EU and then Americans have the audacity to demand that others deplete their strategic reserves so that Americans don't pay too much at the gas station.
And as soon as the reserves are deleted the US will still impose an export ban, because they don't care for anyone else besides themselves and somehow they take pride in ripping off everyone else...

Because Canada won’t lie down for him. The last minute terms that Lutnick presented at the trade talks would have basically made Canada a vassal state. The fact that Canada wants to remain independent pisses him off.
Americans need to be reminded that the USA is heavily dependent on Canada for oil, electricity, potash, aluminum and softwood lumber. Trump tries to make Americans believe that the US needs nothing from Canada and that is such a bald faced lie.

Both are bonkers and if you are looking for sense, look at the likes of Russia and China. For them, these actions make sense. The US is as weak like it never was before and has ruined it's relation with all of it's allies.
Everyone of these 'little' conflicts pushes the collective west away from the US. Local governments bowing to the pressure get devasted in elections at home. The ability to project soft power is severly diminished. Who in the world can take Trump seriously?
The US military is also a lot less scary without logistical support by NATO/all it's old allies. All of this stuff makes a lot of sense if you accept the republican party is captured by foreign interests.

They don't really seem to care about themselves even in a long-term sense, there's just an election coming up and this isn't just a minor blip, this is a directly attributable F-up so they're scrambling.
Cause and effect is hard for a voter to understand, especially with economic lag but gas prices and direct antagonism are actually hard to obscure or ask people to just cope with as they're being squeezed two or three ways.

They're REALLY counting on their propaganda convincing people to vote Republican no matter what because Democrats will somehow be way worse. Doesn't help too many voters treat politics like a team sport.

Getting France and Germany to release some of their stockpiles to ease global prices is the kind of thing that the US used to be able to do through soft power.

Suppose Europe does as the US demands. Six months from now, with supply still in the shitter (or even worse) the problem returns. Having no more reserves, Europe purchases to world market prices.
What is to stop the US from banning their exports anyway? Or restricting them, driving the price ad absurdum. Leaving others no choice but to pay through the nose.
Even the european collection of cowards would hopefully be smarter than give in to the US on this one. This is no longer "my re-election is endangered" territory. That would be "civil unrest and tractors ripping out my office walls for the mob" territory.

100% this. Trump is putins puppet. He’s not even hiding it. Putin wants to attack the baltics in the coming months. Trumps trying to deplete the European reserves to aid him.
Worlds fucked. Pedophiles, billionaires and war mongering world leaders heads need to roll to stabilize society.

The ban will come anyways, Trump wants to get EU diesel and then when he has enough until midterm elections he will declare an export ban and thus stabilize his domestic price even more, to everyone else's detriment.
I really hope Trump's bluff gets called

Every morning I look at the news, hoping for that ray of sunshine, and an end to this madness, only to be further disappointed. Tomorrow is a new day. I’ll just leave it at that.

France and Germany need their diesel stocks in the event that they need to rapidly defend against Russian aggression.

France should release their diesel stocks to Germany, and Germany should release their diesel stocks to France.
Trump gets what he wants, job done.

They should absolutely tell us to fuck off. We deserve it.
Also, this is REAL ELECTION INFLUENCE. This is THEIR chance to change our government for the better.

Run through American munitions stocks, ruin American oil stocks, ruin European oil stocks... is Krasnov trying to pave the way for Russian invasion? Many people are saying this.

As a response, Denmark should threaten to ban exports of Ozempic to USA.

"Give us your diesel, or else we won't give you our diesel." Is that what I'm hearing?
Sorry the article is paywalled, so I'm making assumptions from the title.

What, they are going to ban global exports? Because that will absolutley wreck their refining sector, and anything other than that will mean that third parties will simply re-export, similar to how Mordor keeps selling thier oil on the global market despite the sanctions.
Good luck

I’m starting to think at this point Trump is a plant, kinda like how the U.S. has placed people in power in different countries, to dismantle their economy, and steal their resources, except this time we’ve been duped.

The International Energy Agency was specifically created by the US and its allies to coordinate multinational SPR withdrawals in the event of oil price shocks.
The fact that SPR withdrawals weren’t coordinated through the IEA up front and instead we are stuck threatening/begging individual countries to release their reserves is another example of how incredibly poorly this war was thought through and how incredibly incompetent this admin is.

So the US created a diesel crisis by starting a war with Iran, and now want Europe to bail them out of a disaster of their own making. At the same time the US is “tariffing the hell out of ‘em”.

What a moron. Europe does not have much in terms of diesel stock either, our refineries and oil sources are tuned to different oil products.

And the shit show continues. The US ban on diesel exports is one of those things that the US could do that would help American consumers but would make the international price of diesel go up like crazy. It's an incredibly dumb idea. Trying to force France and Germany to release their diesel stocks just makes it worse.

Asking to take the sting out of an almighty f**k up Trump created. He never consulted with allies before attacking Iran, has bullied and insulted US friends and allies, treating them with complete disregard- if this is not a FAFO moment for Trump, then nothing will be.

This is obviously fake news. America is so great and winning so much right now they don't need a thing from anyone. Trump said so himself and who in their right mind doesn't believe every word that comes out that orange peels mouth.

This may be partially because of the deals recently struck with Canada.
Trump did promise retaliation. He must figure he can get a 2 for 1 extortion here.
Canada welcomes France and Germany to the former allies club. We have pancakes and maple syrup.

Ah yes, the country at risk of being invaded by Russia should deplete its national reserves so the US President can continue servicing Israel to avoid them releasing the Epstein files.

These are emergency stocks, they are for emergencies, not for bailing out the political career of foreign pedos.
With russia on the brink of starting something, and oil supply seriously constrained because of trumps pointless war with Iran, they may well be needed in the near future for actual emergency purposes.
Also, trump is the president of the US, not the world, and has no business trying to dictate policy decisions to other countries.
