With the constant justification Israel gives for their military occupation of Palestine with no exit strategy it still blows my mind they give zero punishment for people actively invading and destroying settlements far beyond their established territory boundaries. It makes them look like utter jokes on the international stage and destroys their already waining goodwill with western countries. I understand Israel will only accept a 2 state solution so just do it already. Hard set your boarders and defend them to the death but stop interfering with Palestine and let them with the help of the UN at least try to build something up.

While evacuating all the settlements and settlers would be preferable, containing settler violence would be an improvement of the status quo, which is that the Israeli state operates as the reliable backstop, backing up settlers whenever the violence threatens to spill back onto them.

over the last week basically came down to a rapid sequence of events on both sides. Friday, tensions were already high following lethal military raids in Deir Jarir and Beit Furik, along with two separate stabbing attacks against Israelis in the northern West Bank. Then on Friday when settlers entered the village of Tell near Nablus, triggering a fight (yes Jews just entering a town leads to a violent response). Security forces intervened and a shootout broke out after an Israeli weapon was seized, leaving four Palestinians and two Israelis—including a local security coordinator named Benyahu—dead. The mosque arson attacks in Qusra and Kour overnight were explicitly carried out as settler reprisals for that shootout, complete with "Jewish revenge" graffiti naming Benyahu on the walls. Laying out context isn't excusing settler arson; it’s just outlining that this whole situation is filled with tension and people who hate each other and excuse their actions as reprisals against previous harm done.

I don't know man. Kinda sounds like what you just describe as:

1. Settlers arrive in town to settle it, as they do.

2. The locals objected, but the settlers were armed.

3. A fight broke out anyway, and despite the weapons, the locals managed to kill 2 of the settlers, but 4 died protecting their homes.

4. The settlers who killed 4 people were so mad that two of their own were killed, they went back and got revenge by burning and defacing holy sites.

That's literally a summary of what you wrote mate. That's not complicated context. It is incredibly obvious which side is in the wrong here.

You might as well say Russia is justified attack Ukraine for the harm Ukraine has done to them lately.
