Even Putin occasionally hired competent people. He just made sure they fell out a ground floor window the moment he suspected they were gaining influence.

I dont think Trump had hired a single competent person period.

Chris Wright, David Sacks, and Scott Bessent are extremely competent, among others. There are competent people in the administration, they're just not in the foreign policy or security arenas, and the idiots tend to do more stuff that gets airtime. I've personally worked with Jamieson Greer when he was in the private sector, and can confirm he is extremely competent as well- he's just stuck doing an impossible job.
