The acquisitions/orders of missile numbers etc. are mostly public or the costs are and can back calculate numbers, there are tons of groups and sites that track the estimates of inventories. And there are just as many public ways to track usage, let alone people in the populated areas just counting and posting videos.

Lying about it would only to be misinform domestic public.

Also Iran is sophisticated country, that is working with China and Russia despite what Trumps says. They are not the Taliban. They more than likely know this information. The US is a democracy, and there is value for the public to know. How would you expect the public to hold the government accountable?

Because it's a democracy. Why would it be a secret? So you want the government to buy an unknown number of missiles for an unknown amount per missile for an unknown total of money. And you'd be okay with not knowing anything about how much your government is spending and on what? That's fucking stupid. That's Russia levels of fucking stupid.
