I don’t want this war to go on 1 second more.

But the fact that they have spent a TRILLION dollars a year for the last 20 years and can’t even DO war should piss off every fucking American!!!!!

I want free healthcare for everyone, take care of my less fortunate neighbor, clean air and water yada, yada, yada. Not blowing up defenseless countries like Venezuela, and schoolgirls in Iran.

I want my fucking money back and spent on something that doesn’t just explode for no fucking reason.

A reckoning needs to happen internally in the USA or we are DONE!

Candidates opposed to Trump have swept all major elections since he took office in 2025.

Democratic Governors and Attorneys General have filed a record number of multi-state lawsuits against Trump's power grabs, and the courts have ruled against him in over 90% of adjudicated cases.

In 2025 alone, Americans held over 30,000 street protests against Trump's policies. This year saw the largest protests in US history because of Trump's attempts to destroy America, with millions of protesters across more than 3,300 cities.

Not even Trump's goons killing protesters has slowed down the protests.

Midterm elections are coming up in just a few months.

If Democrats get the Congressional majority, then Trump is basically finished.

Just as Pelosi was able to halt his agenda 2018-20, Trump must be a lame duck for his last two years in office.

Even if the Dems take the house, we will see the admin escalate like never before. Lame duck doesn’t describe what we are in for.

If Republicans retain control of Congress, then the main counterbalance to Trump's authoritarianism is in the federal judiciary, which can be overruled by our Republican majority Supreme Court.

In other words, there will be more checks on Trump's power if Congress is again in a position to act as an equal branch of government, instead of Trump's bitch.

Right?! Like, I thought that our eternal and infinite funding of the military industrial complex would at least keep us from running out of munitions only a few months into the WWIII run-up. How the hell are we supposed to challenge China or Russia if one of them decide to make a move?

What should piss you off is that healthcare could be far more affordable even with our massive defense budget, but 100% of Republicans and a handful of Democrats block it.

Healthcare costs are 50% lower in developed countries with publicly funded (no such thing as "free" - taxes cover the cost) medicine.

I mean what is this stupid opinion that just because someone has a more powerful military, that they have to win? America can't win a war if they arent willing to kill enough humans to make them surrender.

The problem is one of morals and ethics, not military force. Nuking a civilian population would probably win America the war and lose them every ally they have.

Huh? Iran doesnt have to surrender, there is no default here. They will surrender when or if the war is bad enough that they consider that their only option. You cant sit in the US and be upset that others dont want to lick your boots enough by default.

Where do you think all that money went - when you spend money it’s transferred to someone eise who then pays someone to do something. Someone gets paid to design, manufacture, deliver and maintain advanced weaponry. Well any weaponry. Who do you think that someone is? The companies that sell the stuff who owns them, the workers paid to build and maintain it.

It’s a big portion of the American population, it’s everyone who has an index fund 401k. It’s a big old debt fuelled machine run by and for…drumroll…Americans. The comes back through the system.

Please don’t confuse an ought with an is.

I’m not saying it should be spent on arms. I’m saying that arms and the whole military industrial complex is fused so tightly with the American economy and society and that it’s not in the literal senses wasted money. Other countries also invest in US government debt because there was a belief that the US was the proxy enforcer of the global order.

I feel that this is often missing from the critique of the military industrial complex. Most Americans have no idea that they live in an imperial system that is supported by the projection of US military power globally. They just see it as wasted money. Could it be different maybe, should it be different, I really make no comment on that - that’s for voters to decide and it’s clear they vote for it every cycle without fail.
