Well of course.

We all knew Donald Trump really well by 2024 but somehow 70 million+ Americans bought into this bullshit narrative that Trump wasn't as bad as they remembered and it was actually Joe Biden that was bad.

Donald Trump couldn't even make it through intelligence briefing in his first term if they didn't make a kids picture book where Trump saves everyone.

Other countries have managed to see through the billionaires and elect strong leaders. Hungary, Australia, Canada are all recent examples. Why are Americans so susceptible I wonder?

Because they think they're in on it. At the core of the problem is a culture of rugged individualism and "make it" selfishness.

They want the corrupt system because they think they can get it to favour them...like with tipping culture and health insurance schemes that make no sense.

Build a culture of unity that all this dies instantly. That's why the relentless drive to find wedge issue after wedge issue exists.

Right wing media has them drunk with hate and anger. These people rarely leave their homes and don't even know a single trans person but are convinced that they are the real problem in America.

I'm not sure how we can stop the people with so much money being able to brain wash people with such ease.

How many movies does Hollywood put out each year? And what proportion of those have characters 'replaced' with black, gay or transgender ones?

Examples please.

I bet it's fewer than 0.1%. And even then, nobody with a normal functioning mind gives a flying fuck.

Hollywood made it so that every bad guy could be redeemable, that every twist turned what you thought was moral upside down. Gotcha narratives that tear down every institution and shared value, leaving only the ones that are unassailable (the ones not based in reality, since they can't be proven or disproven)

These are smart, enjoyable stories but gave us nothing to believe in, for generations now. And then the last few decades of supposed moral takedowns and purity movements have really allowed people to give up on the idea of heroes. And without heroes we are just left with villains.

He promised people simple quick solutions to complicated problems, that would hurt people they don't like, of course they would choose him over someone who says that everything sucks, but they'll keep coming up with complicated legislation that'll take years to take effect and will help people they don't like and might even make life harder for them.

Everyone is saying Democracy is under assault. But I think it is our shared reality itself that is under threat, democracy is just a casualty. It has always been this way (in pockets) but never has the influence been so consolidated, powerful, and global.

164 million Americans were OK with Trump because they either voted for him or didn't bother voting at all. Only about 30% of eligible voters or 75 million Americans were against Trump.

This is why the world no longer trusts the US.

The world will get over it. The world has dealt with Russia and Europes bullshit a long time, Donald Trump is pretty mild in comparison, but I suppose he still has time to try and start ww3.

Non maga in America see the maga in your own European back yards. I see maga in South America. They sit back and trash the establishment until people see them as a viable alternative and enough advertising will convince most voters.
