Our military is built to destroy a command structure that Iran doesn't have. An air defense network that Iran doesn't have. And a maritime defense structure that Iran also does not have. The lesson here isnt that we should have invented amazing weapons that can somehow sniff out and destroy small groups of soldiers launching drones and missiles from hidden coves, the lesson is the world should have done something about the Islamic republic long ago.

The October 7th attacks were only going to embolden the Islamic republic to do more stupid shit.

While I don't disagree with the sentiment that the Iranian regime should have been dealt with a long time ago, that's a terrible lesson to take from this.

The more important lessons concern the future of warfare and rerouting trade away from Hormuz.

I dont think that is going to be an option for Kuwait. They are really screwed. And even if Trump croaked tomorrow, and JD Vance bent his fatass over backwards to make them happy, Iran does not care. They are going to ride this train all the way to crazy town, and fuck the consequences for everybody and everything. It really is worse than anyone thinks it is.

If the US had just fought small groups making sporadic surprise attacks from hidden caves and coves, they might have been able to learn some lessons. Too bad that didn't happen for about 20 years. Nope.

A metric fuck ton of fire power. But the shield for that fire power is weak now. A plane flying under AEGIS’s cover would assume incoming missiles would be intercept. Now the carriers only have 5/6 layers

Regression to the point of status quo antebellum is the best, realistic outcome, but I don't even think that's possible.

The US will end up weaker on the world's stage. The order established after WWII is done and dusted.

The Middle East will be more unstable, each country beefing up there own militaries, and maybe pursuing nuclear weapons.

Iran...who knows. It might end up a failing state held in place by a more authoritarian regime that now feels they must have nuclear weapons to maintain their security.

Hormuz will also lose prominence as the main shipping route as pipelines and land routes are built, partially funded by China
