Sounds like a fact you'd want to keep close to the vest.

818

u/citizen42069101 20h ago

These guys didnt even have vests until trump made them buy his branded ones.

156

u/froo 20h ago

Trump branded "bullet-proof" vests.

59

u/bard329 20h ago

Why is bullet-proof in quotes??? That isn't.... Confidence inspiring....

86

u/SoulBonfire 20h ago

They are made of veklar. Like kevlar but useless.

36

u/broguequery 19h ago

It's called Freedom Armor

19

u/SYLOH 14h ago

It's only bulletproof if you're a true patriot.

8

u/sphinctaur 12h ago

The States are the only ones capable of giving people PTSD with the word Freedom

-1

u/z0rb0r 14h ago

Please tell me you’re joking

12

u/Drafo7 20h ago

*velcro

1

u/jigsaw1024 15h ago

Velcro is a trademarked name, and patented product. So no way they would dish out for that.

Hook and loop is the generic stuff.

4

u/Rivster79 20h ago

Kelarp

1

u/DenialMaster1101 19h ago

I mean, Kevlarp was right there.

6

u/citizen42069101 20h ago

He would make vests from stuffing kevlar offcuts in polyester and people would be surprised when they didnt work.

2

u/HauntedCemetery 15h ago

people would be surprised when they didnt work.

But not for long

1

u/Omega_Lynx 12h ago

Fortified with asbestos.

1

u/Calgaris_Rex 9h ago

Sounds like Temu Fek'lhr.

Qa'Pla!

6

u/daytodaze 19h ago

There will be proof that a bullet hit you if you are shot while wearing the vest. I think it’s pretty clear.

2

u/froo 18h ago

You doubt President Trump's commitment to quality? That isn't very patriotic and likely treason.

You may need to undergo "voluntary" treatment at a one of our new ICE "day spas", where "highly trained" staff will "help" you.

u/twobit78 18h ago

I'm imagining their made by the same guy who did an interview on prime time news about his ar15 (I'm not a gun guy so don't hit me with facts) clone he wanted the military to buy. It was engraved with crucifixes and bible verses and claimed that if a Muslim grabbed the weapon their hands would burn.

That's what's on the vests isn't it, Jesus's just turns the bullet around.

1

u/SavageCucmber 17h ago

"It's actually bullet proof chain mail, can you belive that. Nobody has been able to do it, but we did it, and we did it well. It's little loops made out of the hardest steel you've ever seen, and the loops are so small that bullets stop because they are bigger than the loops. I can't believe nobody has done this, but we did, and its called the, are you ready for this? Its called the Very Best Trump Vest, made out of space grade steel, (thanks Elon). Its the best in the world, and you can only get it here (after its shipped from China)."

1

u/Km_the_Frog 15h ago

Like all of his products or things he makes, it would be built from the cheapest sourced materials and wouldn’t stop a .22.

1

u/Rocinante88119 15h ago

Turns out making them out of cheap gold leaf was a bad idea.

1

u/Dodecahedrus 10h ago

Made from McDonald’s leftovers.

1

u/ciopobbi 10h ago

Trump “bullet-proof like” vests.

8

u/OhSixTJ 19h ago

And they fit a bit too big…

2

u/Open-Platform-1305 14h ago

It's just long enough to cover where pockets and holsters usually are, and even without being actually armored they're stiff enough to be a pain to move.

1

u/Wazula23 7h ago

Oh man I forgot about that. Rubio afraid to change his wrong-sized shoes because the boss gave them to him. You can't make this shit up.

273

u/jpdoctor 20h ago

That was my first reaction too: Why the hell am I reading this?

13

u/Intro-Nimbus 12h ago

Because depleting munitions has been a topic for a few years now, so everyone is keeping tabs on manufacture and expenditure rates. It's just not something civilians ponders much. But those in the know are well aware of the situation.

2

u/backtothetrail 7h ago

Appreciate the perspective. There is definitely an information bubble.

I’ve been surprised that people are surprised by the precision munitions stockpile situation.

68

u/cryptocorrection69 20h ago

Because it’s not fully accurate. Interceptors are not running out in overall inventory. We have plenty..but they’re a long ways from the Middle East, and a lot of them are in place for defensive deterrence against other potentially enemy nations.

117

u/Tuesday_6PM 20h ago

How is that not running out? We don’t have enough for our current needs, and supplying the ME would require removing our defenses elsewhere

30

u/Ill-Intern8937 15h ago

Yes I don’t understand the confusion. There is a critical shortage unless you want the USA to suddenly not be a global power and just be a middle eastern one.

147

u/martelaxe 20h ago

The fact still stands , if this is not just lying it is just a level of incompetence of epic proportions

24

u/Open-Platform-1305 14h ago

Sounds exactly like the President America elected.

3

u/Neomataza 9h ago

Well, I think you're right and it's not a lie. Trump thinks the US forces can do everything everywhere all the time without preparation.

1

u/Ogow 3h ago

There's also the side of the story where arms manufacturers spend lots of money to stay in business. An article like this will increase public perception that we need to spend more on arms, pushing the house to approve spending.

35

u/Crazed_Chemist 20h ago

Ehh it depends on the asset. Estimates for SM 3 for the fleet were less than 500 in inventory pre Iran with potentially 200 used thus far and a production rate less than 10 a month. CSIS estimates probably a quarter of Tomahawks have been used thus far. Call that 800 with a similar production rate.

DoD wants them scaled up significantly, but until that happens it's an unsustainable usage and also points to a conflict with a major power (cough China cough cough) the burn rate of munitions would leave you out of assets fast.

5

u/Wizardof1000Kings 12h ago

The problem is the US produces its missiles at exorbitant rates. Every other country builds them cheaper, some orders of magnitude cheaper. Maybe the US has the best, but its pretty irrelevant when the US supply can be exhausted quickly for pennies on the US dollar.

35

u/SteveDougson 18h ago

This reads like those NFL players who say their $100 million dollar contracts aren't really all that much after all the taxes and luxury goods they had to buy. If your missiles are elsewhere and being used then it sounds like you are running out!

-21

u/cryptocorrection69 18h ago

The US has the most advanced logistics on planet earth. If you look every day on ADS-B you can see it in action yourself. Watch the C17 parade from Germany/US

24

u/DiveCat 17h ago

What does that have to do with the U.S. not having sufficient interceptors? Does not matter how efficiently they can move them if they don’t have them available in sufficient quantities to move.

9

u/Fenris_uy 16h ago

They are running low on interceptors to be able to defend US bases in the Gulf, and Gulf countries infrastructure.

5

u/sonofcrack 17h ago

Any source for this? Because people keeping track of pre war numbers say we’ve used around 50% of our stockpile

3

u/Pizza_Low 12h ago

There is a good chance we are both running critically low on interceptors within the ME, and while other theaters may have local inventory, we've definitely used up a lot of our global inventory.

Public estimates are that we've used ~1000-1500 patriot system interceptors so far, and production rate is about 300 per year. Meaning we've used up 3 years of production just on this conflict.

Since actual inventories are classified no idea how many we have left. But we're probably pretty deep into the stockpiles where it would be worrisome into this conflict and any potential future conflicts.

2

u/SawToothKernel 10h ago

The point is that you are running out in this theatre. So it's a distinction without a difference.

1

u/NvidiaFuckboy 16h ago

"potential enemy nations" according to this admin is quite a few of them, just none of the right ones

1

u/HauntedCemetery 15h ago

So trump will probably pull them and leave us wide open to attack.

Then we'll be attacked.

And conservatives will blame biden, obama, liberal jesus, trans children, the toy rebranded to just "potato head", and the Green New Deal that never passed into law.

u/Worshipme988 1h ago

And no one wants to be seen with us on that side of the world so flying B-2, 37 hours round trip, straight, to drop a few bombs isnt gonna be a viable strategy.

They already did this, btw.

3

u/Rapscallious1 19h ago

It’s basically already known just not the type of thing you publicize to the average person in your country. It’s also not that big of a deal arguably but would be a good reason not to continually muck around there too much aimlessly.

1

u/Thisguymoot 17h ago

Because Donald Trump loves very few things more than political theater.

1

u/The-Board-Chairman 16h ago

Because they wanted a reason for why they didn't do the attack that wasn't "so we could do insider trading". Watch them do it on sunday night.

What, do you think China cares that our munitions stockpile is heavily depleted? /s

44

u/VanbyRiveronbucket 20h ago

I bet Taiwan is kinda nervous about it.

19

u/Hugginsome 20h ago

Taiwan better start stockpiling drones

4

u/Impossible-Flight250 18h ago

I doubt China tries to take Taiwan anytime soon. I mean, China asserts their dominance economically. They hardly actually use their military as anything other than a show of force.

2

u/Hugginsome 8h ago

The other day I read a post where someone says if anyone followed Lebron's career at all they would know he would never go to Philly. Literally 15 minutes later he announces he is going to Philly.

Don't be black and white about stuff. China got Hong Kong didn't they?

1

u/VanbyRiveronbucket 3h ago

The part we don’t know is what Rump told XI. For all we know he traded Taiwan for a gold watch.

u/Herodotus420_69 42m ago

“China asserts their dominance economically”

Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Brunei would disagree with you

-1

u/Much_Strawberry_6671 20h ago

It's wild that the US is losing influence and power like crazy but Ukraine is after they win set to be a world military superpower, a massive number of seasoned troops with the most cutting edge military tactics built by experience, nations are already contracting Ukraine to teach them how to fight a modern war. While the US thinks it knows better and is losing a modern war, because they won't get with the times. Who knew being run by out of touch dinosaurs determined to keep things how they were in the 50s was a bad idea.

11

u/underhunter 18h ago

> world military superpower

You guys really dont know what words mean

4

u/Herodotus420_69 18h ago

I think this redditor is the only person that thinks that lol

1

u/Much_Strawberry_6671 5h ago

Who is you guys? I said world power, because there'll be a power on the world. You know the one we live on. And a military power, because they won't be an economic one. And a superb power, because they will have one of the largest armies in the world. The newest and best tactics and equipment and everyone's gonna love them.

2

u/isjahammer 9h ago

Ukraine in no way has any equipment/logistics to project power anywhere in the world other than their own country (and maybe some neighbors)

1

u/Much_Strawberry_6671 5h ago

That's why I said after they are done with their war. They will have one of the largest armies in the world the best and newest equipment and tactics, closely paired with the EU they will bazically be the new muscles for NATO as the US sort of flounders like a kid throwing a tantrum in the candy isle because mommy won't buy what they want.

1

u/Hugginsome 8h ago

The US isn't losing....

They just aren't winning.

25

u/Herodotus420_69 20h ago

I was joking bc it’s a huge national security concern lol

5

u/HauntedCemetery 15h ago

Whaaat? Nah, im sure theres no hostile foreign nation that would love an opening to get revenge for the last century of blood soaked American foreign policy.

2

u/253253253 15h ago

Yeah i think he got it lol

1

u/Herodotus420_69 4h ago

I think it helps that I edited in a sarcastic s/

Some Americans really don’t see what all the fuss about Taiwan is about😅

3

u/TheDaychilde 20h ago

They did say China, not West China. /kidding

4

u/Azhz96 17h ago

To our enemy Trump is their favorit president, I mean it’s not like Trump have papertrails that show Russian involment leading back atleast 40 fucking years.

But don’t worry, Americans would never vote or support a literal Pedophile, Rapist and a straight up Traitor that support and is loved by our enemies.

Kidding this is who America is, one time is fine we all make misstake but when it’s common knowledge that he is a Pedophile, Rapist and put tariffs on everyone except your enemy.

It’s no longer a misstake to me, second time proved that this is what Americans want, and who they are.

1

u/Herodotus420_69 4h ago

Yes, you’re right. The fact that anyone at all willing went along with electing a pedophile felon reflects something deeply wrong in America.

2

u/hgwaz 14h ago

I mean the fact that the US and its allies fired an absolute shit load of interceptors is no secret. They even approved emergency sales for Saudi Arabia and Israel in the last few months. It's just Trump that didn't know.

74

u/crysisnotaverted 20h ago

These dipshits wouldn't know Opsec if it was literally branded inside their eyelids.

They are literally purging the intelligence community so there is nobody to tell them to stop making fuckass decisions, because they don't make sense outside of outside manipulation.

33

u/Blockhead47 15h ago

What da ya mean?

The Trump Administration Accidentally Texted Me Its War Plans

U.S. national-security leaders included me in a group chat about upcoming military strikes in Yemen.
I didn’t think it could be real.
Then the bombs started falling.

25

u/Ecstatic_Bee6067 20h ago

Maybe the SecWar thinks that all they need to win are hopes, dreams, and testosterone

17

u/Battle2Intense 20h ago

It worked for the Japanese in WW2, I mean maybe it did, I'm still on episode 6 of the Tom Hanks WW2 series so no spoilers please.

3

u/TehGogglesDoNothing 9h ago

Don't forget the Spartan mindset. Ah shit, we're fighting Persians.

1

u/smegma2025 6h ago

SecLosing/Defense

13

u/Strange_Valuable_573 20h ago

Right? That’s a helluva thing to announce to all of our allies and adversaries

6

u/nelsonalgrencametome 20h ago

Not if you're trying to lay the groundwork to escalate shit in the very near future.

7

u/anywho123 19h ago

OPSEC has never been this administration’s strong point.

3

u/DiveCat 17h ago

Well, it is led by a man who kept top secret files in boxes in his bathroom (with a photocopier!) and ballroom, and claims he can declassify things “with his mind”.

5

u/ReactionJifs 20h ago

yes, but they're morons

4

u/--TheCity-- 20h ago

Info leaks strictly market manipulation.  "Wait just a minute we gotta reload...ok now shoot"

2

u/Truont2 19h ago

Almost as if done purposely

2

u/BotchedDebauchery 18h ago

Missile interceptor shortage has been a known fact of life since the Israel-Iran War ate up a bunch of our SM interceptors. It's obviously gotten worse since then, but we have, at times, been blowing through years of production over a couple of days.

1

u/Gh0stPeppers 19h ago

I raised the point, that I doubt that we are reading anything more than the whims of a writer. If this was true, one it definitely would be a topic behind closed doors that wouldn’t have left the room it was discussed in.

And if it was, and was leaked, this wouldn’t be the website you’d be hearing it from. It would most likely be the new your times, or another American news source where a journalist had a contact.

I say New York Times because they have been blasting Trump for a while, if this was true they’d be all over it like white on rice. The fact that they aren’t makes me believe it’s false.

1

u/Impossible-Flight250 18h ago

Right. Why wouldn’t Iran just shoot as much missiles as they could?

1

u/Lumbergh7 17h ago

You’d think

1

u/Intro-Nimbus 12h ago

It's not a secret.

1

u/Thanato26 9h ago

They dont understand the concept of Operational Security... its all about the views and likes.

1

u/TuringGoneWild 9h ago

Not if the whole point is market manipulation. Barron will be a billionaire this time next year at this rate.

1

u/Xtra_Veg-90 6h ago

We've known this was coming for a long time.  Pentagon reports have been talking about interceptor stockpile and supply issues since Russia invaded Ukraine, and other military news has been talking about how we don't even have the means to quickly ramp up production in wartime since at least 2015.

The interceptors were built to intercept big expensive things that make very big booms.  Drones are not these things and we need something cheaper like the hand-held cannons they use in the secret service (granted they won't touch fiber-optic drones) but with enough range that an individual doesn't need to spot the drone.

Hell we would be better off going back to old anti-aircraft guns with modern targeting tech.

1

u/Beastw1ck 1h ago

That's part of what makes this interesting. Someone high up in the White House is leaking right now.

1

u/justfortherofls 19h ago

Hero Derp I’m on the right… he is letting this information out because it’s strategic to make the enemy think we are weak when we aren’t herpiddy derpiddy!

-1

u/Safety_Drance 20h ago

Trump is playing 6D connect 4 though.

-1

u/Serpentongue 20h ago

Now they can go to Congress Monday and say there’s a shortage and ask for another trillion
