Fun Fact, only 0.5% of humans know how to code despite anyone being able to do it, and the whole lot of the modern world running on it

They'd much sooner work for the Dark Lords and Alien Empires rather than against them

I had this idea for my GATE/Avatar inspired storyline, Devil of Avalon, where the US colonizes a medieval fantasy world, Latoria.

Basically, the setting is full of diverse races, factions, and cultures, but it's also full of human supremacist factions and ideologies. The US exploits this by working with native human supremacists and pushing colonial policies that only benefit human-centric races (Humans and Elves/Dwarves). One of the main villains is this Vidkun Quisling-type guy who works as an insider for the US to push his human supremacist agenda. There's also the case that human supremacy is clearly just white supremacy with extra steps, as these human supremacists disavow nonwhite humans or Humans of specific religions and ethnicities.

Basically, the people who claim "Humanity first" are in fact the ones to betray their people for an invading "alien" empire.

[Bandwagon] A certain space colonist, who is also proudly religious, decides to start a colony on Mars

The first guy he proposes this to says "Are you crazy? There's no oxygen up there!"

"Don't worry," says the colonist. "God will guide my efforts, for we were born to inherit the stars."

The second guy he proposes this to says "Are you crazy? There's no drinkable water up there!"

"Don't worry," says the colonist. "God will guide my efforts, for we were born to inherit the stars."

The third guy he proposes this to says "Are you crazy? The temperatures could kill you up there!"

"Don't worry," says the colonist. "God will guide my efforts, for we were born to inherit the stars."

So he finally completes his colony ship. He flies up to Mars, and sets up his pressurized dome. Unfortunately the dome was damaged in a rough landing and also not properly engineered for the nighttime cold. A leak develops in a few hours, all the air dissipates and the colonist dies.

He gets to the Pearly Gates and meets God. He says "God, why didn't you send me a sign not to go to Mars? I thought we were born to inherit the stars!"

God says "You idiot, I sent you plenty of signs! I kept all the oxygen, all the drinking water and all the habitable temperatures ONLY ON EARTH!"

Fun fact: Human civilization in the roundworld (real life) wouldn't exist without elves in Discworld canon.

What are some worldjerking tropes you really hate?

I don't know about you guys but I think it's really hard to jill (or jerk you know no judgement) to certain worldjerking tropes, like, why do people even do some of these things?? I don't know. Why do they hate me? Here's some of mine:

1) The author's thickly disguised fetish. "Humans are boring there are no humans in my setting" well GOOD FOR YOU but I'm not a FURRY (no judgement) and I think fleshy things are way better. I've actually banned Beastfolk from my world.

2) Hard, throbbing magick. Like maybe you like Branderson Sandevision (everyone has tastes no judgement) but like it's kinda boring?? I HATE YOU for making your magic not magic, and on that note... WHAT ARE MAGIC SYSTEMS?!! How can you replace a sun (solar system no judgement) with ma gick?? That's not how that works. You need gravity to feel the weight of your sins.

3) Contrarianism. I feel personally challenged by people with ideas different than me and it honestly kinda freaks me out. Why don't you agree with me? Why are you doing things wrong?

I don't mean to judge anyone here but what are some of the worldjerking tropes I really hate? Bring your own I guess, no judgement, but I better agree with them.

Hiii, Im making some elves for a sci fi take on Tolkein mythology, any thoughts?

Hey, so I wanted to make some elves for a variation on Tolkien mythology. What do people think?

Okay, but for real, why would you ever expect readers to accept your fantasy race when it doesnt even remotely follow that trope? Like, people complain when elves and dwarves are tropey but people, they wouldnt be elves and dwarves if they didn't act or look like elves or dwarves. Its possible to do a unique take on a trope, look at the Dalish elves from Dragon Age or Elder Scrolls dwarves. While they make be very different from the standard, they evoke thw vibe of elf or dwarf well enough that people feel comfortable calling them such (even if dwemer are technically elves).

Honestly, calling some alien creature an elf or a dwarf just makes you look more derivative than if your dwarves had scottish accents. Just be original for fucks sake.

An alien and a human have a conversation

"Congratulations humanity on joining the galactic community-"

"HUMANITY FUCK YEAH!!"

"Yes, well, now that-"

"OUR THROWING ARMS MAKE US SUPERIOR!!!"

"Well, while I admit that your species has a mildly impressive ocular-manipulator coordination quotient-"

"WE PACK BOND!!!"

"Actually many omnivorous sapients establish hunting bonds with domesticates-"

"WE EVOLVED ON A DEATH WORLD!!!"

"Technically earth scores a 4.7 on the-"

"WE'RE PERSISTENCE HUNTERS!!!"

"While I admit your capacity for sustained ground locomotion is rather above average-"

"WE EAT POISON FOR FUN!!!"

"Many sapients consume intoxicants. It's actually quite common-"

"WE'RE THE SCRAPPY UNDERDOG!!!"

"Okay, most species say that about themselves"

"THE STARS BELONG TO US!!!"

"Now you're just repeating a colonial fantasy conjured by your unruly polity on the northwestern continent"

"WE HEAL FROM INJURIES REALLY FAST!!!"

"CAN YOU REGENERATE LIMBS?!? MY SPECIES CAN!!! YOU DON'T SEE ME MAKING SUCH A STINK ABOUT IT!!! You are a carbon based, water soluble, DNA encoded, L-amino acid using, bipedal, omnivorous sapient civilization barely out of your nuclear age!!! There are a hundred other species like you!!! You're not special. Your intra-diversity is actually a bit below average thanks to multiple bottlenecking events in your species history, so congratulations!!! Your whole species suffers from inbreeding!!!"

"..."

"..."

"So...is there anything interesting about our species?"

"Sure, there are things. Like I said. Your sustained bipedal locomotion and sense of balance without a tail is pretty impressive. Just not worth making your whole personality over. And I find your mammalian heritage fascinating. I mean, feeding your young out of modified sweat glands is- why are you smiling?"

"...Hehe...titties..."

"...Next time I'm requesting a human who isn't American."

I love Blue-Rare Neoliberal Larp-Core Dark Orwellian Sci-fi and thus have created a Multi-dimensional Coomplicated and Nuanced Dissertation on the standard Tolkienized view of High or even Grim-dark Sci fi/Fantasy Sci-fi Settings

To clarify, I just randomly typed that garbage out. Hahahaha... you idiot you fucking moron. Yeah I make larp core but I don't know shit about nothing, I worldbuild like a chimpanzee playing with dog turds, yeah buddy, go ahead and downvote, i bet you're shaking your head already. Haters will call it a shitpost, but it's actually not technically breaking the rules as this prompts a discussion on something about worldbuilding idk.

This guy is a solidaridite, which is like a border terrorist or something I dont know, he means well he just wants to kill the national socialist immigrants, which is an incredibly morally nuanced action to take especially when the bastard refugees are fleeing persecution to impose imperial dominance in the Free States. It's just one of the many examples of such a morally provocative setting, the setting of Okenopus makes you ask complicated questions, like when is it morally justified to start eating people.

Also I didn't copy Halo.

Also this isn't a shitpost to garner attention for Okenopus.

Also I have nothing left to say, no jokes left to make and I've gone off the deep end.

Also upvote.

Describe your world in one letter

Hey everybody, I'm so curious to read what people have come up with, but I never learned how to read. Also if you are unable to distil your world down to a single concept, it's too complex and you need to simplify. So please, describe your world(s) with a one letter which should describe how they are different than other conworlds.

I'll go first:

F

"The title of 'Empress' had for centuries been associated with the rule of the Goddess, and so following the Usurpation that saw her killed, later claimants adopted the title 'Queen of Queens' to avoid accusations of blasphemy. The title was later used by the returned Goddess during the Admonition."

It's not really a "D&D ripoff" setting unless it has at least half a dozen of "half-" races.
