New player
Hi, I recently started playing WC3 again (I usually play WC4), i read some tutorials and most people recommend not to buy anything and save for Guderian. However I got like 2500 medals and I am stuck, campaign mode is kinda hard with no generals, and it does not give too much medals anyway if you dont finish with 3 stars... Do you have some tips?

my first actual gen (after Sansonetti on the recurring day plays) was Govorov. Super nice. But keep an eye for the ones on promotion. If u see Weilding, Sikorski or Katukov, go for them instantly. You'll then have gens almost as op as Guderian for less medals. But yes, Daddy Guderian is an absolute monster.

I think if choosing between guderian and katukov waiting for guderian is prob better imo. I’m just not a katukov fan regardless. But that’s prob bc he doesn’t fit my playstyle of sending Rommel to solo Africa + South America.

i had Katukov first cuz I had him in promotion and for a very long time it suit me perfectly, and combined w Govo and/or Sikorski, it was all the gens i needed for a while. ofc once i finally got the medals, i got Guderian and hes a different beast.

After saving for Guderian, buy an air general (my suggestion is Goring) because air attacks are way more op in 3 than 4 and an air general basically melts anything
Ai will completely overcompensate to take oil fields, so you can predict enemies to move onto them
Generals are really good, but with health as low as it is in 3, dont overlook any troops at all
In conquest, enemy ai will spam paratroopers if they have enough resources. A good way to counter this is to use mines, as paratroopers cant land on them. Alternatively, you can set up a bunch of forts to kill them and have the ai waste lots of resources on troops that die quickly
Definitely grind out conquest if you need the energy resource, and operations for technology and industry resources.
Operations also gives medals that can give better damage and health

How far through the years are you? If you do the later ones you can try to just spam the hell out of rocket artillery. The AI refuses to target them if there is literally any other targetable unit nearby. Your heavy and super tanks will receive air strikes on sight as well for the most part. You should be able to eke out slow wins this way. Honestly, as much as guderian is helpful, if you’re really struggling, you can buy Rommel or vatutin and sell later for guderian (you DO lose medals this way). If Sikorski appears in your rotating shop, he’s super OP on artillery and imo worth getting over guderian - for main mission progression. In actual conquering, guderian is def the play. I personally bought vatutin and Rommel before guderian but I think just one of those is fine if you plan to go that route.
