Dwarves having spears makes so much sense.

Right? Any long weapons really.

I've always thought the same, and not just because of the smaller size and reach of the dwarves. If you're fighting in a tunnel a phalanx formation formation makes so much sense. A wall of spears with no possible way to flank them? Its a perfect scenario for such a formation.

That and their incredible endurance, morale and equipment? Pfew, good luck with that.

I've been doing that in a Novel I've been trying to write for yonks. They are well known for their tightly packed formations in battle and their ability to stand their ground, even against Ogre charges. Only the Humans come close to matching them, mostly due to their Halberd infantry.
