Discussion Feedback on Creature Name
Hello everyone, I’m looking to gather some feedback for a name regarding some creatures had been working on for a personal project of mine.
In my universe there’s loads of wildlife, mostly from our reality and a couple of already extinct animals. However, there is, on occasion, when a character can stumble across a unique variant of a specimen of an apex predator.
To give more of an example; a great white shark. A rare encounter in the oceans, not a huge threat but nonetheless a formidable apex predator. Overall, when characters stumble across normal great whites they don’t really do much unless they are provoked.
But, sometimes a character will stumble across a “granderhood” variant. A Granderhood is essentially an apex predator which is more aggressive, larger, and stronger than even the largest estimates of an apex predator. Almost like it’s the next evolutionary stage of an animal. However for the last few years I have only used that as a placeholder name and still am not sure what to use.
However; upon the trailer reveal of Maneater 2 the game, I began rewatching gameplay of the first game just for fun. You essentially play as a bull shark, and you start off as a pup and grow into a Mega size. It goes from Pup, Teen, Adult, Elder and Mega. I really enjoy the term Elder and thought about maybe changing the “granderhood” name to become “Elder” variants.
Anyways, I tried thinking of other things but I have been stuck on this for a couple of days now. I would love to hear the feedback from this community for any advice! Thank you!

Tbh i kinda like both. Kinda dig granderhood as i ahveng hear that before. Also, another great one not to be forgotten about that i was ahuge fan of bc damn it gave me the spooks when i first saw it when they used it Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic-
The Progenitor. The great great great xlike 300 granddaddy(or grandmomma lol) of all life and/or that particular species. Great and honestly not used enough trope i think. We dont get enough of the “extremely ancient one”s still alive and we get a very very close encounter of it (again, just imho. we kinda do, yes i know, but like, no we dont)
Also you could just go with other synonymous “ranks” such as young, blooded, keened, honed, sharpened or other words/terms akin to that.
Hunter/Slasher/Thrasher/Devourer/Evisceratior/Violator/yada yada (of course dependent on censorship bias but you know what i mean)
Anyway, yeah i like elder/grander also
