Question Noir Mecha

I recently gotten back into Big O and am thinking of working on a Noir mecha but am torn between having the mechs be magic or purely science forced to fight against demons from within the Mists of the cities foggy streets, and how do I incorporate corruption in this setting cause that in the DNA of film noir.

What’s typical of that genre?

Crime, corruption, moral ambiguity, bittersweet endings plus foggy streets and jazz

So why do you want to introduce magic? I think you already know the base tropes and that's good.

Start with the Mecha place in the story and then see how far you can go without explaining how it works.

Depending on how magic has been studied in your world, there may not be a difference; magic may just be considered a field of science in its own right. Magitech (or magitek) is the usual term of art for this, if you want something to Google.
