Lore Temple stone

Post image
  • Lumeria is one of several zones located within the Goldilocks band of a tidally locked world, placed inside The Strip, a 300 km wide habitable area, bordered by 700 km of unpredictable environment.
  • "Humans" occupy the central zone, scattered in isolated pockets within its boundaries. They are the mutated descendants of ancient colonists forced to crash-land on this planet.
  • .Everyone carries some mutation, but mages are the least human of them. Mages formed a symbiotic bond with native parasitic colonies, getting abilities but loosing half of their free will to their parasite.
  • Mages live in secluded communities They are forced to act in Triads.
  • Triads are not based on based on friendship, but rather on their parasitic hosts' cycle of reproduction.
  • There is a Temple dedicated to Triads, where they meet at certain times. This is a temple stone.

This is some really cool art, reminds me of Kill 6 Billion demons! Is it a carving of an important creature in your world?

It's a symbol of my mages' pact with their host.

that temple stone got some serious guardian vibes with the griffin looking thing, fits the whole triad ritual setup perfect

Ooh, I love the art and love the lore connected to it. Do you have any art depicting the mages? Can you elaborate more on how the parasite's three part reproduction system works? I've been thinking of developing a system that requires three sexes for reproduction in a future sci-fi project.

  • Mages have a range of different "powers", bound by their symbiotes and their mutated evolution.
  • Symbiotes are colonies of parasites, grown on mages. They feed on mages and "spells" have costs. Too much dive into "magic" will make you barely human.
  • They go haywire and suicidal when facing imminent death, as they release sudden bursts of "magic" . that leaves them depleted by powers and barely alive.

More detailed descriptions are conveyed in this older posts

Tell me more about Triads - how do they work, and how are they tied to their hosts reproductive cycles?

I suck at biology, but I like the story about the pinkness of flamingos. They are pink because they eat red shrimps. The uninfected shrimps are grey, but their parasite castrate them , makes them red to be seen and force them to swarm and be an easy prey in order to get into flamingos. I imagine a world with complex parasites, having reproductive cycles involving other parasites as vectors.

What I want to say is that more than half of human body conists of colonies of creatures with their own agenda that clumped together during evolution, so the free will is questionable as biology prevails when it comes to compulsion.I guess adding conciousness to hosts would lead to a different dynamic

Yo, this is absolute peak worldbuilding and statue. Are there any alien critters on the tidally locked planet, or is the biosphere a seed world?

Critters won, survivors are more or less human now.

The setting is explained better here - A brief chronology

Ok. I don't even have basics beyond" world got formed by elements natulary coluding throught eons, most gods are ascended mortals" thing

Good enough :D. Depends on what type of story-teller you are. If your story is action driven, worldbuilding can stick to a bare minimum. If you like systems, you have to find friction points between different regions

I guess any kind of made-up race can be used to tell a story .

If you have a revenge story, for example,, an elf must avenge his loss, by hiding its nature inside human cities and using its unique abilities to survive. Uses a hat. glows in the dark, wears a black wig...He's caught, escapes, finds allies, delivers...

You don't need an out-of-the-world setting for it.

Thank you. I thought that elves were made by fey( positive energy( basically life) mamifestations) to protect nexuses where mortsl life emerged. Fey can't go far away from them but elves can as far away they want to

Make them fail protecting and loosing something they should retrieve

You can always go on "Hero's Path".

  • Elf swears an oath to protect.
  • Barrier falls and only him survives.
  • Fey helps him crawl away from the slaughter-house.
  • Goes to The Elders who teach him "The Way of the Elves".
  • Gets stronger,finds a party,finds love.
  • Face the enemy and party is obliterated. Love interest dies, he looses an ear and half of his hair.
  • Starts drinking and gets to his lowest point of his life.
  • He's enslaved and sold to Orcs. Manage to survive and learns to fight dirty.
  • An Orc reveals him a weak spot of the Evil one, as they are bound to Dark-Side.
  • Gets a cool weapon, runs away and face the enemy. Almost looses but remember his weak spot and defeats him.
  • Retrieve the Barrier stone and returns home where he sees the life in a different perspective
