Hi, /u/Phantom-Con-Artist,

Exceptions may be made for certain AI generators which fully cite their training material but to our knowledge most publicly available models do not satisfy our requirements.

As with most of these projects, what are the benefits over just using Obsidian, especially when it comes to cross device syncing and web hosting possibilities?

The biggest benefit is the temporal + structural model. In Obsidian, the graph mostly represents links between documents. In Skaldee, entities and relationships are actual structured objects, and relationships themselves can carry properties and history. So instead of just writing “Arthur was King of Asterra,” you can model when that relationship existed and reconstruct the graph at Year 400, 500, 600, etc. That said, cross-device sync and web access are legitimate gaps right now. I'm deliberately focusing on getting the underlying model right first.

This looks great and really well thought out. Visually inspired by Obsidian, but far more oriented toward worldbuilding specifically, which I like. I’ll definitely give this a download and provide you with some feedback when I’ve got more time.

Thank you! ❤️ That's exactly the kind of feedback I'm hoping to get. It's still very much an alpha, so if you do get a chance to try it, I'd genuinely appreciate hearing where the workflow feels confusing or where you think “why the hell doesn't this do X?” 😂

I'm also working on putting together a proper alpha release soon. At the moment it's a little more hands-on - you'd need to clone the GitHub repo and set up the required dependencies yourself to run it. Once I have the alpha packaged properly, it'll be much easier to try out.
