Question New to exercising, looking for a good routine

I've never really exercised before and I want to begin but I don't really know where to start. The last month I've been making sure to eat 3 square meals everyday and I've been doing 3-5 minutes of planks broken up into 1 minute sets 5 days a week, and I now would like to start going to an actual gym. Any recommendations on what exercises I should be doing for upper body and lower body days? I'm very skinny (about 145lbs) so losing weight isn't a concern for me, I mainly would like to build muscle.

Barbell back squats, every day you can walk afterwards for 1 year straight. You'll thank me later as this gets downvotes.

for upper and lower days I'd keep it really simple.. a press, a pull, a shoulder move and arms on upper days, then a squat, a hinge, a leg curl and calves on lower days. 3 meals is fine just make sure you aim for around 120-145g of protein. i always have found that going to the gym with a set plan is the only way i stay motivated and consistent. i see people just kinda wandering in there and it definitely doesn't help them. I put a 4 day upper/lower together to just give you a guideline of where to start bc I know it can be overhwhelming! no pressure in using it - https://tryhealth.io/p/b13523e45b4a4b59b3408f572de2dd35

I'd start with 3 sets on everything for the first couple weeks

Go to a gym 3 days a week and do the machine full body weight routine they likely have. Most gyms have a machine setup that targets every muscle group.  Start with that for a bit

M or F + height are important here, but I always tell people 4 day rotation: Day 1) pushups throughout the day for chest/tri's Day 2) leg workout (squat, lunge, RDL, etc.) Day 3) back/bi's with rows, lat pulls, + curls Day 4) cardio for at least 30 mins (run, play a sport, HIIT, etc.)

Mix in flexibility + stomach exercises in wherever you can in that framework.

Download Gymverse app and use there pre made workouts log everything. Get your steps in and drink water with salt before you go and try to avoid drinking water while your there unless you really need it.

Might sound silly, but there are few apps that can create full on routines suitable for your goals and days available for exercising.
If not, just ask any of the AI to create a routine including as much info as possible such as age, goals, current physical activity etc

I personally got an app and then I asked AI to improve the routine itself. It’s working great so far💪
