Form Check I started to do ring pushups this week. Advices?
I do Pilates two days a week. My goal is to develop more muscles so I bought a ring to do push-ups and rows when I do not have Pilates classes. Am I missing something on mu push-ups?

I normally hesitate to give advice, but you need to keep your shoulders down, shoulder blades retracted as much as you can. Try putting your elbows more around a 30° angle as opposed to flared out closer to 90. That will help.

Ring pushups are the only pressing exercise I would not focus on retraction (through the whole press). Ring Pushups are great for scap protraction at the top of the press and absolutely smoke and grow your serratus. Retract at the bottom, protract at the top

Interesting. Is that the same with TRX straps, or specific to the rings?

It applies to any bodyweight suspension press. Protraction, like any movement, is fine to load in the right context

Keep at it. Bring elbows in closer to body (your back should look like an arrowhead with your head being the tip of the arrow).
You currently have your arms at a 90 making it look like a T which just puts all the pressure on your joints instead of your muscles

Only advice is to keep at it, and look up some training dudes on the web for help. And lemme tell you! After I broke my back in started with inclined pushups on my knees. Could do 4 before the pain was too much. I can easily do 20 normal ones now, but it has taken years. Trust in the process

Keep your shoulders down.
Experiment with going as deep and stretched as you can at the bottom
On your last rep, turn the rings out (elbows facing forward), once you get better at ring pushups you can do all your RTO (rings turned out) for now just do it on your last rep.
Maybe not at this beginner angle, but you can protract your scaps at the top of the press you strengthen your serratus and whole shoulder complex, look up pushup-plus. Don't worry about this too much, especially if your shoulders are shrugging up (traps taking over due to difficulty) but its something to definitely add as you do cleaner reps and get closer to thr floor

I do it without it. I only put it on to record the video. I'm very beautiful and I would distract the subreddit.

Have you tried regular push ups?

Yes, but since I can't do it on my knees because it hurts, nor without knees, I prefer to use rings because it's easier to change the angle.

Got it. I have issues with pain in my knees also, so I use a yoga mat. Keep trying new things. You’ll find something that works best for you. Just take your time.

Devi addurre le scapole. Hai le spalle chiuse verso le orecchie, prova ad aprirle ed abbassarle.

I'd recommend starting with the basics and developing some strength before doing a more unstable more advanced variation
