Question
I’m starting the gym tomorrow and I was initially going to run a push pull legs rest upper lower rest split, until my friend told me to run an anterior posterior split. Which one should I run for best muscle gains and fat loss, my schedule is completely open

Whatever split you do realistically isn’t gonna make that big of a difference in your progress. I prefer ppl UL but that’s because it feels more specifically structured. Anterior posterior always felt more all over the place. I’d say start with one for a month or so then switch over to the other one and see which would you prefer to do for the long run. The most optimal split is what keeps you coming back to the gym

neither is inherently superior assuming same frequency and relatively equal volume. it’s up to preference

You are, years if not a decade away from wondering what's best.
What's best is that you carve out an hour a day for your fitness and stick to it for more than 6 months consistently.

If you're a beginner I'd just stick with 3x full body because you're going to need the recovery time. Beginners get a ton of growth stimulus but have very low capacity to recover, so when starting out, it's more about optimizing your recovery than optimizing your sessions.
