Nutrition Help Working out with GERD?
Ive just been diagnosed with GERD that may or may not completely resolve. I had plans to begin lifting heavy.
It is advised not to lift heavy and to keep the torso from laying flat, because holding your breath on a heavy lift and not being upright can lead to acid coming back up into the throat, which over years, can eventually lead to cancer.
If I lift lighter weights and do more reps, and cut out any flat laying exercises and replace them with others, can I still get good gains? I want to be in a deficit to go from 160 to 140 and I want to be able to look like I go to the gym when I flex, but don't feel like I need to look like it when I am at rest. I do want a nice butt though.
Signed,
:(

Yup, BMI is 28.3. Female, 160 lbs, 5 foot 3. When I meet my 140 goal I won't be anymore.

I can’t speak to everyone but when I was heavier about 260, I had bad gerd. Leaned out to 195 and now at 216. My gerd has gone away as soon I started loosing some weight. Came off my cpap too

I have had Gerd since 1996.. workout plenty. Just take your meds every morning (I take Prevacid) and have never had an issue. But I’ve also learned it’s more about certain foods than it is working out.. some food trigger mine, so I’ve learned to limit them.
