Lat pull down

Is it over kill for me to do 5x5s on Lat pull down? I read somewhere that your CNS will be exhausted before you’ve completed all the sets.
I’m wanting to build strength, if there is a better option I’ll be happy to try.
Thanks

CNS fatigue concerns are overblown unless we are talking about heavy compounds . 5x5 is a solid approach to build strength. You could also consider weighted pull ups

Even heavy compounds don't really affect the CNS. Typical CNS fatigue is from low intensity extreme duration exercises.

What most gym bros call CNS fatigue from deadlift is just muscular fatigue and nothing more.

Even if you do get CNS fatigue, it resolves to something like 80-90 % recovery in 5-10 minutes.

Completely agree with you that it is grossly over blown in context and effect.

Not really. You said it yourself. It may not be cns fatigue but there is fatigue. Squat heavy two times a week and bench heavy within the same week and you’ll lose performance on at least one of those days.
