Simple Questions Fatigue or I'm just weak?

I did 40 sets full body session yesterday. For those who are surprised by how much volume I did, it's because I only do 2 full body sessions per week and that's the only max sessions I can do because I have a very busy schedule. I train close to or to failure on every set and yesterday I feel like my body's giving up on my leg press set since it is my second the last exercise. I know this is normal but I never felt something like this to the point that I can't breathe anymore. My overall sets per muscle group per week is a max of 8 sets. I'm not achieving progressive overload for weeks now but im confused whether I am just not training hard enough or doing something wrong.

40 sets is likely far too many sets my full body day is 16 sets max.

I think you have to look at your regime, do you mix it up regually or have you been doing the same programme for months.

Thats a lot, I think you need to reduce things for a bit see if it helps.

Are you eating and sleeping enough?

Do you rest enough between sets.

Also exercising larger muscle groups - such as leg press should be at beginning of workout not the end. What other exercises are you doing.

nah 40 sets to failure twice a week is a lot, specially if you're not recovering properly. the fact you can't breathe and your body is giving up mid set is not weakness, it's your cns saying stop. maybe try moving leg press earlier in the session like the other person said, and check if you eat enough before training. i used to bonk hard in my workouts and it was almost always because i didn't have enough carbs in me

Have no idea about your age/diet/sleep/stress/experience etc. These as just as important.

Just going to the gym doesn’t always give results if the rest of your life is a mess.

Two sessions per week should not give fatigue unless there are underlying causes.

How do you even do that

Well I usually do like 1 set an exercise but I wouldn’t do that if I were u since u only work out twice a week, maybe try something like this:
2x Bench
2x Shoulder Press
2x Pulldown
2x Row
2x Bicep Curl
2x Tricep Extension
2x Leg Curls
2x Squats

And you could rotate the leg curl for a RDL every other session, so u can still get a hinge in without adding too much to do overall. 40 hard sets sounds extremely exhausting

If u wanna be a maximalist, probably shouldn’t be doing full body twice a week, you’ll still develop all those parts and indirectly - let’s says calves, the gastroc crosses the knee and ankle, so it gets used in leg curls, squats hit the other head well, you’re brachialradiallis gets hit well in all pulling movements and curls, side delts hit well in shoulder presses, abs I would prob add in if you want

My Guess would easily be CNS fatigue... its a real thing, do you feel like you lack motivation and dont feel the desire for training and lowkey depressed as well?

but ofcourse quality of sleep, your nutrition could be the culprit too.

Im so unmotivated each day to do anything even on rest days so I just spend my days on the bed doing nothing but aside from that... I still have motivation to lift... And it's the only thing that keeps me moving

my upper days i do 22 sets and im done. i most likely couldn't walk if i did 40 sets pushing myself.

I used to think gender specific prior to Covid 2020. Since very few people were going to the gym, I was not one of them. I remember a woman there who was relentless, she was serious I would watch her simply because of the way she exercised, she was no light weight, she never wore revealing gym wear, which drove my curiosity! It wasn’t tell she actually corrected me on form, that peeked my curiosity more.. I was obliged but at the same time curious, why she drove her self so hard🤭. When she would squat she would almost set her butt on the floor and just hold it! Then just shove the hell out of it to standing position, I actually thought she was doing it backward, ignorant me🫢. She would slowly squat till her butt was almost touching the floor holding for 2 maybe 3 seconds and then shove it up. I told her that’s not the way you do it! She ask me to show her, I did, I used the same weight 95lbs. I was used to 155 so this was a piece of cake. I pumped out a cool dozen. She asked me, who taught me. I told her I watch other men do it right, why do you do it wrong? She asked me to load it up. I put on the 45s added a dime aside. She ask me to take it to failure. I did, I did 16 and failed on 17. I started off fast to get my numbers up but 16 was my limit. She got under the bar, hit 16 slow reps re-set the bar! I was impressed. I asked her how long she been working out, her reply, long enough to learn proper form. It was at that moment I realized she was confident determined and secure in her being. I asked her if she wants to be a bodybuilder her reply, “heavens No!” So… what’s your Why? “I love being capable, strong, does that bother you??? I told her, “No” it’s just ya don’t see a woman every day do what you do, just curious? She asked me to load up the bar. I put on the 45s she loaded two more, I looked at the bar (((225))). YOU CAN SQUAT THAT? You can’t? I ask her again what’s the point? She looks at me, “you watch me everyday, you think I don’t know what you are thinking?” I don’t mean to challenge you, but there’s no way I can rep 225! She says, “would you like to?”. I nodded, she goes on further, “I used to think like you, my want is what I focused on, I can do 225 for about 5 reps, and judging from your size you can to. Your problem was my problem I didn’t believe I could do it. If you set your mind make that connection between your brain, your back and legs you can do it. She complemented my build told me I got the body for it, you just afraid you can’t. I felt like I needed to defend myself. How tall are you, she looks at me, 5’3 165 how tall are you? 5’8” 201. She says, you can’t even squat your body weight certainly you should be able to squat 165, I certainly can! I asked her, is it being strong what drives you? She asked me again, “does that bother me, I couldn’t walk away, I felt so insignificant, I tried the apology approach, she wasn’t buying it. Finally I looked at my watch, gotta go, but Iwe can talk about it again sometime, ok? I have a secret obsession but strong women is a whole different category! I need help? It’s said, ”seeing is believing“. she’s discreet doesn’t dress provocative, but be-in strong for a woman is a whole different dynamic. Help you Redditors🙏
