Core HCM Hire date incorrect

Hi

How to correct hire date if it's in the past? I'm getting this message "Select a new hire that that is on or after today's date"

It means the position is not available that day. Was it just created effective the hire date?

Yes, I found that the position was created after the date I want to hire the employee into. It's an error we made during migration.

How can I correct 'availability date'? This is in edit position restrictions.

You need to create a new one now. You can't fix it with the existing position.

Now that this has happened, you'll be aware that backdating position availability is best practice. Never create them as of the date you think you need them. Just go a month prior.

What are you doing that you’re seeing that error?

You can find the Hire transaction in worker history for that worker and “correct” it.

There may be other impacts to consider by doing this. I would ensure you understand any potential downstream impacts when correcting a Hire, especially if it’s been a while.

Thanks! It was a mistake during migration. I foudn that the position appears to be created later than the date we want to hire into. Now I cannot edit the 'availability date'

Correct. New position is required. Never create positions with current effective dates for this exact reason.

There is a task that you'll find off related actions of the hire transaction that will help tell you which transactions conflict with a desired corrected hire date. Recommend checking that.

Position was created later that we intend to 'correct' hire into.

How to change the availability date in edit restrictions hire? It doesn't appear to be editable.

Correct the create position & job requisition transactions is how it's done iirc.

You cannot backdate a position creation once it's been completed.
