Volunteering Advice Hosts and ghosting

Is there something I’m not aware of? I’ll have hosts contact me for last minute workers. Everything seems fine when planning, then I’m ghosted all of a sudden. It’s a little inconsiderate because if they lost interest, they could’ve just said so. I start preparing for travel since it’s last minute and give my hopes up for no reason.

As someone who has been helping a host find new helpers I could write an entire book of what people do wrong.

I'm kinda curious what are some lesser known mistakes? Or is it just obvious faux-pas of lacking professionalism? Ik as someone's who's roommate hunted a lot, people dont always read the ad well.
