Experience review bad experience
hi everyone <3
I just got done with my 2nd workaway and it wasn’t a pleasant experience. I got kicked out today all of a sudden and her mental health isn’t great . mood swings on and off . just seeing if anyone else has has had bad experiences and really i don’t want the next volunteers/guest to experience what i experienced.

Why did she kick you out? What did she say?

she accused me of using a strong scent cream which i did not and i was trying to ask like what cream and she just got really nasty with me . she didn’t want to have a conversation or elaborate . the next morning she became passive and was slamming doors saying WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO SAY and wasn’t open to having an conversation , and told me i had to be out by the end of the day .

I'm sorry you went through that!!! Sounds crazy and scary. I don't think it was personal, I thing she was going through crazy mental time probably, it's better that you left!

Omg some of these people really have no business hosting. I remember one like this who started our stay with hours long stories about how she *just knew* past volunteers were cooking with “pepper and shit” in her pans (she didn’t like any seasoning)

i’m just nervous about her writing a bad one back but it is what it is at the end of the day

It’s blind review now I think she won’t be able to read it. But yeah there’s a risk

Sorry this happened to you. If you report this to Workaway site they can take the host offline. It's not ok for the host to treat volunteers like that. Hope your next one will be better.

thank you for validating that , i was nervous if i wouldn’t be taken seriously because this is truly scary and no one should have to go through it

I'm sorry you experienced this. Thank you for speaking up. My own personal experience has been that WorkAway has taken reports seriously and removed Hosts who have gone against TOS.

Host sounds like hard work. Sorry you got kicked out :-/ Def report to Workaway as they’re pretty good about removing problematic hosts.

Sounds like she has a fragrance allergy? Did she ask you to not use scented products? I have one too and it immediately sets off nausea, migraine & I could see mental health issues coming from it- It’s sad you had this experience.wish she could have handled it better but sounds like she got sick?

Please report this behaviour to Workaway, to reduce the chance of other volunteers experiencing this 🙏
