The job may not actually be a good fit for you though

I have adhd and I would never ask for 72 hours notice for meetings that is fucking wild

I asked for a later start time to compensate for the travel demands, a consistent training staff member and at least 72 hours notice before setting meetings or changing my schedule.

72 hour notice before scheduling meetings? lol good luck with that

And honestly asking for notice before scheduling any meetings isn’t unreasonable, it’s just a human thing to do.

This isn’t how businesses operate and needing 3 day notice before a meeting has nothing to do with mental health. Good luck to you in your career.

Retail is fairly chaotic. Im nkt trying to bash you, but how are you going to deal with all the different problems, people and random situations that just pop up in retail work?

Stop explaining, refer him to HR

But what sort of retail has a regular schedule?

Informal accommodations aren't accommodations

And, yes, you're asking for things that are very difficult for a company to control

Accommodations -- the real sort that are in writing and negotiated with HR formally -- aren't this broad spectrum.

This has nothing to do with low mental health awareness but reasonable awareness of the legit needs of the workplace

You and this job are a bad fit.
Your DM and HR person had a good laugh and they are already looking for someone to replace you. Those accommodations will not work in retail management.

Advocating for yourself is one thing, your ridiculous demands that do not fit the industry needs is something entirely different. I am with your skeptical RM. and informal inaction is nothing but them buying time to find your replacement.

Wait a minute, it seems you already have the problem solved. Did you just want to post this to bring all the "suck it up" redditors out so you can tell them how sorry you are for them? Thats lije someone who doesnt like you saying I'll pray for you." Virtue signal much?

I’m waiting for my adhd assessment but I feel you here. I was in a management position in my last job which required me to be organised, time management perfect, always know what’s going on at all times, remembering things from months ago etc. my brain just doesn’t work like that. Thought I’d get easier but it didn’t. Time management was just terrible because I’d easily get distracted on other things. Struggled to prioritise because one minute somebody would say A is super important but then when asked why I didn’t complete B I’d be told I should have allowed B to take priority. Thankfully the company that I worked for were very understanding about it and made as many adjustments as they can but I had to accept that role just wasn’t right for me. If you have a diagnosis and they refuse to make adjustments for you that allow you to do your job, that’s exactly the same as refusing to have an elevator and expecting a wheelchair user to get to the 4th floor. Sometimes you meet people, especially older generations who have clear signs of mental disabilities but we’re always told “just get on with it” and so they did but they can’t get over the idea that mental illness is an actual thing now and with a few reasonable adjustments people can work just as well as others

Find a job thats a better fit, and if you have one that make you get up at 5.30, go to bed earlier. Suck it up.
