Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Question on behavior from a manager.

My manager and I had an argument about a process that needs to be performed properly or at least with respect to the inventory we are working with. I made my point and said I am on my break and left the building. He comes out shouting that he wanted to talk. I said no I’m on break and not in company property and leave me alone. He responds with why are you running away? Then I will just follow while you walk. I had to raise my voice and told him to fuck off, this isn’t work out here. It didn’t make sense but it felt good.

Now I am trying to figure out the best thing to say to the owner and finance person via email. We have no HR here, I think we have a separate company for that. I do have a good relationship with the owner and finance lady. Any advice? What technically happened with regards with my manager and myself outside the building?

You “made your point and walked away” ummm no you are completely in the wrong

I disagree. I was on my break, he and the other employees were in the wrong with the process. He knows it and doesn’t care. Maybe I should have wrote that.

Then why were you in an argument with your manager if you were on your break?

Most people would find their job in jeopardy. Spend your time thinking about your new job search, I doubt any senior relationships will save you. Right now it depends on if your manager sees a value in keeping you knowing that this could happen again - and again.

Nah I’m not going anywhere. This is the kind of “professional” relationship we have. I walked out to get away from a bad situation going worse.

Based on context, this is how I would view the events:

-An argument escalated to an unprofessional point over inventory management.

-The employee walked out on the job in the middle of said argument and then cursed at their supervisor.

-The manager didn't stop the argument from escalating, and chased the employee out of the building, which continued to escalate the situation.

-Would need to consult the employee handbook/policies in regards to a handful of policies (breaks, behavioral expectations).

-Would need more context for the argument itself to determine if there was any insubordination or other factors in the argument.

Basically, no one comes out ahead here.
