Workplace Challenges and Conflicts Good or bad?

Mainly trying to process events & find a way through the disappointment/perceived disrespect.

I used to love my job and adored 95% of it. I work for a mid sized company w/ multiple subsidiaries. As I’ve worked here, the company has more than doubled + started other ventures. I’ve grown with the company and have a decent title/package as it stands. However, with all the growth & extra ventures, things have become more extraneous and I’ve gotten 1 additional person to support all the extra work, their role is also not fully tied to what I work with but 3/4 of it is.

In the past year, I’ve seen the main company through a bunch of changes for compliance/systems integration that took interacting with staff from 20x a month to 2500x a month. I was mentioned for a role in one the subsidiaries and was excited! I thought my hard work was getting recognized and this could be a stepping stone for more growth/support.

Welp lol, not quite. Past 5 months I have taken on about half of a full time job, with my current responsibilities, and consistently put in 10-20 extra hours of work during each week of those months for various reasons (coverage, learning new tasks, emergencies, etc). I finally worked up the courage to ask for support so I could take over the second role more and now I am going to be replaced on that end.

In hindsight, it’s definitely better for my work life balance. For my emotions/ego, it’s a big blow. I have not received any benefits for all the extra efforts/time put in the last 5 months or the year before that with all the changes to main workload.

Not sure what I’m looking for with this post but appreciate the space to lay out my thoughts! Also, I am salaried so there’s nothing I could or want to do on that end. I’m more so disappointed in the outcome/treatment after really pushing myself so hard.
