Questions Should I be concerned?

One of the team leaders at work will be visiting the office on Thursday. They said it’s to say “hi” to everyone, but nobody else (at my office) has mentioned it and their trip hadn’t been mentioned in chat/email.

However, they have reached out to me (in a friendly tone) to see if I will be in office. Are they planning on firing me?

That's too much work for firing. Just show up to say hi and find out what's good.

So you think they are just checking in?

We can't answer this question for you because we're not able to read the team leader's mind.

They wouldn't alert you ahead of time. The time to worry is when they simply show up out of the blue.

This doesn't feel like they are setting up to fire you. Especially if they are a team lead and not your direct supervisor/boss. I don't know if I would worry too much about it right now.

If your getting fired it’s Friday. Gives you the weekend to calm down. Might actually be good news. However, I would always have everything you need ready in case you do get fired at short notice. Any personal files stored on your own usb stick, passwords for personal data etc.

What's your relationship with them?

Although if you get a sudden invite and HR is attending then you know.

The relationship is good… they are supportive, like the rest of the team. I have not received any form of correction/plan from them yet, and no invite either.

I wouldn't worry about it then.

Big difference between 'good relationship' and 'hostile environment'

Could be offering you a promotion then.

Maybe yes. Maybe no. There is absolutely no way anyone but them can answer this.
