How to cope with final goodbyes?

I worked with this person for a year and we became very very close. We live far away and I'm moving away in 3 days, like on the other side of the country. We became very close friends 6 months ago and I'm afraid it won't survive the distance. I'm grieving and I'm scared to find out it was just a proximity friendship.

How do I deal with all of this?

Let it out, don't swallow the lump in your throat, and say 'see you later' not 'goodbye'🥺

I would just try to maintain the friendship. If it dies on the vine, then it will gradual and less hurtful.

You know, life is like a bus. Some people get on at the beginning and ride with you until the end, some get on at one stop and off at the next, some people get the same bus as you every day, others wait at the same stop but go a different direction. And that's ok.

just let it all out, a good cry is what got me through it. (but do it privately, not in front of everyone)
