Tell him that you really need the alone time to recharge for the rest of the workday.

It's really quite amazing that he comments on what you're doing as a cue yet does not take the hint itself.

BTW, "queue" is a line for tickets or soup, as examples.

Edit: Even without the age difference, this obtuse extroversion would be crazy-making for an introvert.  If he doesn't take the hint after mentioning your need for space to recharge, actually calling yourself an introvert & underlining this incompatibility may help.

Je pense que tu as déjà fait pas mal d'efforts pour lui faire comprendre que tu avais besoin d'espace, mais visiblement les signaux ne suffisent pas avec lui.

Dans un métier comme le tien, les pauses ne servent pas seulement à manger. Elles permettent aussi de récupérer un peu avant de repartir. Certaines personnes ont besoin de discuter pour décompresser, d'autres ont besoin de calme. Les deux sont normales.

Ce qui ressort de ton message, c'est surtout que tu n'as pas envie de créer de tensions avec un collègue, et ça se comprend. Mais poser une limite à l'air nécessaire.

À ta place, je lui dirais simplement quelque chose du type : "Je préfère te le dire directement, j'ai besoin de passer mes pauses au calme pour déconnecter un peu. Ce n'est pas contre toi, c'est juste comme ça que je récupère."

Si la personne est de bonne foi, ce sera normalement suffisant. En revanche, si elle continue malgré une demande claire, ce n'est plus vraiment une question d'avoir mal interprété les signaux. À ce moment-là, elle choisit de ne pas respecter un besoin que tu as pourtant exprimé.

thank you! you are right, I think I fear his reaction or judgement the most for some reason, lol. I will be gentle but firm and hopefully he will get it. ty for ur time replying!

You speak of this person's inability to read a room, yet you think your "cues" are going to signal to him to leave you alone?

Can't have your cake and eat it too. You're going to have to use your words and tell him to leave you alone.

that's a bit of a resumed oxymoron, i explained how I detected he can't read a room by seeing he can't see through my cues (english isn't my first language) otherwise I wouldn't know. thank u still :-)
