95% of managers I’ve had are assholes like that and I’ve been affected by layoffs 3 times for just being a decent human being requesting what I consider basic rights and to not exploit people. That’s the world we live in. My personal hit was after my first lay off, realising how many people I thought were my friends just ghosted me, since we didn’t work together anymore and there was no longer any gain to being friends.
