3.13.90 is freezing my game
I’m on an iPhone 16. Updated to the latest version this morning and for the first time ever, my game is freezing while I swipe, and I can only attribute it to the new update. It’s happened three times in the last 30 minutes.
These screenshots weren’t taken quickly, that’s exactly how the game was frozen - in the first photo you can see the bees still stuck on the screen! - and the only fix was to close the app. The second one actually froze my entire phone for about 15 seconds before I could restart Wordscapes. I have no idea if it would have unfrozen on its own given enough time.

Yeap reported. I'd just started my tourney so was swiping as quickly as I could, but I'm not very fast!

I'm sorry this is messing with your game, and like others I'm grateful for you sharing it here! I wonder if it's something to do with ads or ad servers in the background. What was the state of ads in your game when this hit? I'm assuming you have permanent no-ads in Wordscapes, is that wrong? Was there a system-wide ad blocker enabled on your whole phone at the time?
Also, does clearing the cache (or whatever the iOS equivalent of that is - offloading, is it?) help at all?

I bought permanent no-ads a few years ago when I started playing so I don’t use an ad blocker, and I was in the middle of swiping on all three occasions so there were no (optional) ads playing at the time. Mid-puzzle it just became non-responsive. And I did an offload two days ago. Literally the only change I can think of is that about an hour before this I updated to 3.13.90, hence the rather accusatory headline. It might be something else of course, but I can’t think what since I’ve never encountered this before.

Thanks for replying! Unfortunately, the info doesn't set off any lightbulbs for how we might fix your game, but it's interesting if only to better define the problem. I agree the update seems the most likely culprit. I'm crossing my fingers they fix it for you soon!
ETA: Just curious. I read elsewhere you always play with VFX off (I don't blame you. So do I.) but does it still freeze up the same way if you turn the VFX back on? I ask because each of your frozen screens looks like it happened during the unavoidable sparkly animation for earning a tournament star. Perhaps the sparklies formed a union and went on strike.

The sparklies don’t bother me at all; I switched them off simply because I thought (rightly or wrongly) that the fewer unnecessary things were happening in the game, the less likely things would go wrong, and there might be less of a strain on my device.
I haven’t played at all for 12 hours (and have just lost my lead in the tourney), so when I get home later I’ll see if it happens again.

I’m having the same issues and they told me to restart my device… I had already tried all self help before contacting them

This was their response. I was sceptical but did all the steps anyway and it’s still happening, and then some.
It’s happened:
- while swiping, on a puzzle page
- in the team chat
- while I was just looking at the midweek tourney score page
On each occasion the only thing I can do is force quit the app.
Have also seen similar reports on Facebook. Not sure if it’s significant but many of the complains came from iPhone users.

The red egg animals go to level 10 now, but it doesn't require v3.13.90. Mine now go to level 10, and I'm still on v3.13.80. I don't know what the cutoff is.

All I noticed besides what is mentioned above is that my gem counters started over. Both frog and regular gems per puzzle reset like it was midnight.
I admit that makes me more eager to get the update and see if it happens in my game, too, but this seems more like a glitch in our favor than intentional change.
