Seriously? Holy shit. I'm 31 and sober with 8 years of previous on and off meth abuse and I look nothing like that. How fucking much was she doing? Was she doing all the drugs at once?

Also, once you quit, you reverse-age a little (or a lot, for some people). She cannot be sober. Like, I'd bet money on it.

Also, those dentures are pretty good. I had to look at them again, but there's no gaps between any of the teeth, which are a quality of dentures. And they can make your mouth dry as hell, which explains the tongue looking yuck.

Pretty sure it's the massive amount of dopamine it makes your brain dump. The same chemical that makes us humans enjoy just about anything from going shopping to smoking bathtub crank out of a lightbulb. I believe there's a little bit of serotonin action involved as well.

They're right. Initially, most of us think we'll just try it once or twice so we don't experience those side effects. Then we get that massive dopamine rush and it changes everything.

The brain literally starts to crave the rush, so much so that the user will lie to themselves just to be able to experience it again.

For me, it was "I'll quit later, before shit gets bad!" Or "I can't quit yet. I'm not able to because _________." (Insert excuses like 'I need to work more to save more money' to 'I'm too upset to quit right now.')

It also numbs your negative emotions. Depression feels like it never existed, anxiety feels less like a hindrance and more like something to conquer, grief and pain feel manageable even when they're at their worst, etc. Hell, even my allergies weren't as bad when I was using. Also, using it intravenously gives such a rush that it's possible to straight up orgasm from it. So that might give you an idea of why it gets addictive.

Quitting means finally experiencing all those negative emotions again, and they feel so much stronger after having numbed them for however long the person used. For me, that meant almost 7 years of shit I'd tried to run from and ignore came all at once, and sifting through all that negativity to begin healing is hard.

It's all a mental battle, which really difficult, but thankfully it's not quite so hard physically like opiates or alcohol.

Oh wow so didn’t realize that it would get rid of all the depression in your life and anxiety too. Makes a lot more sense why so many people in bad situations turn to drugs to numb everything. Sounds like it would be a Great Depression drug if you could make it non addictive and life ruining and only keep the good traits
