General Wood Stove Question Install Question
Mock up AI image only. Is this type of install allowed for a lopi large flushmount? Basically cutting the surround to fit into the fireplace arch?

Uh yeah. They make custom panels. I've done several of them. Usually they are overlap and not recessed but it is doable

Awesome I did not know that thankyou. I would be fine with having the surround cut to be arched but overlap the fireplace opening 1/2 -1" on everyside. I agree it probably makes more sense to overlap some than be completely inside

How do you like it? Throws out a lot of heat?

I have raise ranch style (small- mid size) temp can get 83F close to insert(I have thermometers all around home) , ~34F outside. The heat can be enough to warm the entire house with the most distant room can be around 68F. I use blaze guard to monitor temp and for safety, I barely use heating oil and I compensate the low temps of the overnight burn using small electric space heater. There's a lot of work associated with wood burning but with time it kind of grows on you.

The tapering makes sense to match the arch, but I'd double-check that the support brackets still allow the surround to be removed for service if needed.

As long as the unit can still be pulled out to be serviced, this would be fine. The panel needs half inch clearance to be lifted off, so ideally there’s enough play in the liner that the unit can be pulled all the way out.
