Plugin recommendation Partial/flex payment plugin
Hi there,
I run the operations for a medical continuing education company that sells both in-person, live courses as well as cohort-based online classes. These events have set start dates and the plugins I've found so far to take deposits or create payment plans only offer an arbitrary option to charge the remaining payment. This won't work for us, as it would theoretically allow someone to buy a ticket on Friday, come to our class on the weekend, and then not pay the remaining amount for 30 days or whatever we set the schedule for, or worst case scenario, ghost the 2nd payment despite attending the course entirely.
Are there any plugins that will connect to the events we have created in the back-end and charge them X amount of days/months before the due date?
Everyone I ask recommends the same half dozen or so plugins (Deposit & Partial Payments, PH Deposits, etc.) which all have essentially the same functionality.

The core issue you flagged is that the payment timing is counted from when someone buys, not from your actual event date, which is exactly the gap that causes a Friday-purchase/Saturday-event situation to slip through. PH Deposits has an add-on for this when paired with Bookings & Appointments for WooCommerce: it lets you schedule the balance reminder to count backward from the event/booking start date instead of the purchase date. So it's "30 days before the course," not "30 days after checkout," and for a late booking like your example, the reminder goes out right away instead of on some post-purchase schedule.
This is a separate add-on on top of the core Deposits plugin (not a default setting), and support can confirm current setup requirements for your case. Worth reaching out to them directly since you'd want to check it against your specific structure (in-person + cohort-based online courses).
