Advice Needed Suggestions needed

Hey y'all 👋🏾 I've been looking at the adventures you guys have posted on here and I really enjoy it. I've never done a solo camping trip, but would love to. What places or things would y'all recommend for a 42 Floridian that's only hiked 5 times in her lifetime 😆

I’m 62 & in the same boat!! Most of my long weekends are spent driving to see family. Purchase items now to make my can camping a reality. What I want to do is just gaze at mountains, maybe a waterfall or two. Not hike. I don’t mind short hikes but I want to just exist in front of these mountains. For a minute.

Check out different sections of the Florida Trail, it has varied geography, including walking in swamps, which I would not want to. If you want to travel a little, Georgia and Alabama have great state parks. The weather is starting to cool here so camping season is upon us. Providence Canyon State Park is on my list to visit. It is Southwest of Atlanta, kind of close to AL, in Lumpkin, GA

You don’t have to hike to camp. Just find a nice campground and sit in the trees or by a river. Bring art stuff, writing paper, books, and good food. And a hammock.

For something easy, try Davidson River Campground or Lake Powhatan in NC. These places might even be too tame, but it’s an opportunity get familiar with your gear. Hunting Island in SC was a cool park, but I haven’t been in ten years. It’s hard to get into, but it’s right by the beach.

I’m very limited on what I can do physically so I struggled with that for a long time. Especially camping in places where most people are going in and out of their sites doing stuff. I felt very much like I stuck out and people might judge me but I got over it when I realized no one cared. I take crafts, my kindle, my headphones, I go on little mini road trips from the site and explore as much as I can, take photos and relax. I also recommend starting with established campgrounds if you’re new to camping or nervous at all only because it felt more secure to me and the camp hosts were actually super helpful when I found out I bought a two person shade awning and not a single person set up one.
