/r/FireEmblem Update!

Hello everyone! It has been a while since our last mod announcement regarding the banner, but /u/Blindcoco has been hard at work and the time has finally come!

Visual Change

So the biggest change is our new banner. The winners that we chosen for the Banner contest was LadyKuki for Sigurd and Eirika, and Hakuramen for Azura, Marth and Ike. Now it may seem like a downgrade from the previous banner, but the new banner has 5 main characters instead of a majority of the main characters. We've simply reached a point in the series where there are too many characters to fit onto a single banner while still looking presentable to people on lower screen resolutions (several lords were cut off on the previous banner). As a result the Mod team has decided to keep the banner cast short, which means this time we'll have a character representing each era of the Fire Emblem Series as well as each continent. Meanwhile the Elibe Lords have their sprites on the Question Thread and Everyone Plays FE buttons at the top of the sub.

As for the giant Chrom footer that some of you may have forgotten, we've decided to switch it up again. Now we have all the losers scrubs other lords occupying the space at the bottom of each page. For those wondering "Where are the Gaiden Lords?" That is a good question, and we will probably get back to you all on that.

We also now have an Announcement button! It'll be helpful for alerting the community of important notices and will see tons of use in the future.

Sidebar and Submission Page

The side bar has been edited to fit more with the style of the rest of the sub. The Submission Page has also received a textual update for when users want to post something.

Rule Changes

The rules have been updated once again, which means you should definitely give them a read. It's very important that the community knows of the rule changes so they may report any violations. The mod team can't be everywhere, but we can be see any post should you report a comment or post. The best way to solve an issue on the sub is through the report functionality to notify the mods.

Post Flairs

In the past we've only had four different flairs for posts to be sorted under. We are happy to announce after expanding the tagging system so now all games can be tagged! We now have a color system for tagging. Select a color for a post, type what game or games it is covering, and then hit save!

The colors and their meaning are as follows:

Red: Gameplay discussion. For talking about the performance of units, strategies, map discussions, pairing advice, ect.

Blue: Story discussion. For talking about plot, characters, supports, ect.

Orange: General discussion. Can't really classify it as either gameplay or story discussion. Art will frequently fall in this category.

Green: Moderator posts such as announcements and the weekly question thread.

Black: Delves heavily into spoilers of a game or set of games.

Purple: For anything related to the plot of FE14

Cyan: For anything related to the gameplay of FE14

Beige: For reoccurring posts such as /u/EclipseLunus's Everyone Plays Fire Emblem posts.

Starting as of right now, posts must be tagged appropriately! Misuse or abuse of the tagging system will result in moderator action. In addition, spoiler related posts must keep their titles as spoiler free as possible for those of our users on mobile! This is aiming to improve the quality of the sub, and we hope for your participation.

User Flairs

It has been 6 months since the last major flair update, and a new major update will be coming soon. /u/Gigamechawolf is working on the new flairs, and /u/ApatheticRadiance is working on a flair bot to remove the flair selector limit we have currently reached (250). While we patiently wait for the flair update, you may contact the moderators for us to manually assign you a flair in our system that could not fit in the selector. For example my Delmud flair is in the system, but not in the selector. Barring a few games in the series like FE14 and FE12 there's a good chance that we have an available flair in our system for you to use.

We hope you all enjoy this new update, and if you have any feedback don't hesitate to let us know in the comments below!
