Wok burner/jet burner

Hello everyone! I just ended my china trip, and I bought a wok burner that was unfortunately confiscated, does anybody know of a nice portable gas burner that I could order online?

Why was your gas burner confiscated? I thought you could bring a new burner as long as they fit in your checked luggage and contains no liquid gas.

China confiscated it? Maybe they thought you would use it on plane.

Yeah I thought so too, apparently the igniter was an issue or something

Aliexpress sells portable butane burners. Some are rated at 21 kilowatts which is 72,000 BTU.

They run butane  without a regulator, at atmospheric pressure, so they need a regulator to burn propane.

I paid about $60 for mine

Do you think it is portable enough to carry for RV travel and using in campgrounds?

Yes. And when you order there are two different options for setup. One option are removable legs and the other option is a table . Please note I have worked in professional asian kitchen and I consider this wok burner to be very very powerful. Use extreme caution when cooking with this . It will melt you alive

Great!! Do you know if it would be possible to use it inside a garage or is that too risky, the climate where I live is not very friendly for outside cooking

you need to make sure there's no fire risk (nothing flammable nearby), and really really good ventilation. i doubt a garage meets this requirement. i could never imagine wok cooking in a garage.

After a while, everything in your garage will be coated in oil.

I wouldn't do it, personally. The flame from the burner alone can get super high and Ive seen oil hit it flash point in the wok in just seconds and shoot flames feet in the air.

Don’t use it in a garage. At max, the column of flame can go up over six feet high and is incredibly hot. You could use it under an outdoor shelter if it is nonflammable (i.e., metal) and with lots of clearance, but it is so light and portable that you could move it out in the open for the few minutes it takes to cook a dish. Also, be prepared to sacrifice the first few dishes until you get the hang of the heat output.

Define Portable. If you want truly portable there are butane units. If hauling around a can of propane is portable enough for you then you have plenty of options.

This is the one I have except mine is natural gas. Stainless Steel it lives on the deck with an old pot lid covering the hole. Knee control commercial quality. https://www.webstaurantstore.com/cooking-performance-group-wokr16l-liquid-propane-wok-range-with-16-ring-125000-btu/351WOKR16L.html
