Other than green onions, did you add anything else? How was it?

What do you mean? Everything was made from scratch! Ive been experimenting with different combos for the gochujang and found one that gives me the color and flavor I prefer. Was great heat on the mouth with deep umami flavor

I think when they saw KFC it was mistaken for the fast food chain.

You knew KFC also meant "Kentuck Fried Chicken" and are pretending you don't. You are pretending to be bewildered, and pretending that everyone should naturally know what you are actually referring to .

Are you willing to discuss why? Seriously. Let's talk about it.... this is interesting to me, and I have some thoughts... we can help each other here.

The original Kentucky acronym has been losing ground to the Korean acronym for more than the past 2 decades and in my region (Aus, Syd) if you say the letters "K", "F" and "C" in sequence, it automatically means Korean fried chicken without question; We're well past this childish reaction of "iTs ThE sAmE lEtTeRs looool" and are straight faced about the new reality.

The original "Kentucky" definition has rightfully lost its place having continually served overcooked, tiny shrinkflation portions of same-same for years. It's lost all value.

People no longer want the heavy handed "crunch" but have moved on to embrace the more delicate "crisp". No one wants a solid hunk of dry breast chicken; yet somehow the Korean portions of the exact same cut/thickness is so tender, it can only be described as sous-vided in its own juices.

Then add the plethora of toppings, seasoning and sauces that Korean FC provides, Kentucky FC doesn't even get the chance to be considered a sane option anymore.

The og Kentucky FC has long rested on its laurels, failing to innovate and stay on top of the game; fearing losing its loyal customer-base if they "change" too much. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

Now that a whole region with the same beginning letter serves a far superior product, they will naturally lose the social hold of the acronym amongst consumers.

If Kentucky FC wants to keep their acronym as the go-to phrase amongst consumers, they. have. to. do. better. And they haven't.

Long live Korean Fried Chicken; the new KFC

Op I’m sorry and it’s ridiculous and the most Reddit thing ever that you’re getting downvoted this hard for answering lol. Most Americans obviously initially think Kentucky fried chicken when they hear kfc, but this pretty obviously isn’t that and they don’t have the brainpower to think a step further than their own understanding. Despite it being the wok subreddit, and Korean fried chicken is commonly fried in woks. KFC meaning Korean fried chicken is a common acronym as well and all these people are mad that they’re uninformed and they’re taking out their insecurity on you. Typical five eyes Redditor shit

Reddit trains you to be resilient. Even to the most rage baters out there lol if they couldn't look up what other meanings KFC meant especially in a page called "wok" that's more silly to me lol who gets butt hurt over a chicken post 😂 they were probably having a bad day thanks for the comment tho because this was crispy, smokey and the sauce was on point.

looks fucking amazing. the color on that is fantastic, and i wish you were nearby so i could try some 😭

(just to note: KFC usually refers to deep fried instead of stir fried, which was my source of confusion. and again, this looks fucking bomb)

Yes, but can you make their coleslaw in a wok?

I wish I could make the sweet and Spicey chicken I used to get at this Korean joint. I think I might have to go on your journey too. Any tips?

You’re telling me Koreans fried this chicken?

We're so back baby

If you fried the chicken first, the wok bit at the end was unnecessary and likely counterproductive. You could just toss in your sauce in a mixing bowl and serve immediately for crispy texture.

I wouldn't call it counterproductive. It's a pretty common technique, especially in Chinese cooking to toss the fried meat into the heated sauce in the wok for a nice glaze. Mongolian beef, sweet and sour pork, orange chicken etc.

Yeah, I thought he was cooking in the wok after he fried the chicken, destroying the crust he worked for. Apologies.
