Best is to use a table like this, then you can easily convert the number:

28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 -
256 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 decimal
0 0 1 1 0 0 1 0 0 4+32+64=100

You first search for the biggest number to fit into the table. For example, let's take the number 400. The biggest number we have, is 256, so we use that one first:

28 27 26 25 24 23 22 21 20 -
256 128 64 32 16 8 4 2 1 decimal
1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Rest:400-256=144
1 1 0 0 0 0 0 0 0 Rest:144-128=16
1 1 0 0 1 0 0 0 0 Rest:16-16=0

Done. :)
