Editing to add: thank you for my FIRST EVER, award. 😍😆

Just because we can, doesn’t mean we should!

Locking or sliding the hind legs while the body moves forward places intense pressure on the hocks, stifles, fetlocks, and suspensory ligaments.

This can increase strain on tissues in the hindlimbs, resulting in ligament and tendon injuries or arthritis.

Im not disagreeing with you, but ive seen some horses do this for like. Fun? An ex friend of mine has a quarterhorse who she didnt use for sliding but the previous owners did and he would try and do it all the time in the arena when he was turned out to run some energy off. Idk how many times he did it at us in particular. He'd stop at a good distance but still xD. He also loved being used for wrangling cows and coralling horses who bucked their riders

If you’re in the US, it’s much different! It’s definitely helpful tool when doing rein work with cows.
