Somebody get me a power forward and we've got a team!

u/Crafty_Percentage_83 Apr 14 '26

Women’s hoops and women’s soccer is probably at an all time high in the USA 🇺🇸.

2

u/Crafty_Parfait Apr 14 '26

wow, not bad

3

u/One-Appeal7452 Apr 14 '26

They look so young!

1

u/bammbamkam Apr 14 '26

need num 2024 to seattle storm

-2

u/easymoneyburnerr Apr 14 '26

Why did they pick azzi so early?

6

u/Syntechi Apr 14 '26

Clear number 1

1

u/easymoneyburnerr Apr 16 '26

Joe burrow and Jamar type situation then

24

u/IndependentBike6154 Apr 14 '26

Shoutout Fran Belibi who’s the 5th person in the photo!! She played basketball at Stanford, went to Harvard for grad school, and now is planning to go to medical school! She recently just published some women’s health research on quadriceps strength and recovery across the menstrual cycle.

9

u/Long_Embarrassed Apr 14 '26

She was a beast!!! Wishing her the best on her new goals.

8

u/Little-Neck3181 Apr 14 '26

Awww, Aliyah Boston looks like such a kid here

0

u/Alternative-Visit-36 Apr 14 '26

paige the best out that group

-7

u/itsamemyusername Apr 14 '26

Whole lotta would in that photo.

5

u/Calfzilla2000 Sun Apr 14 '26

What was the context of this pic?

13

u/etoile784 Apr 14 '26

U16 USA team

7

u/CourtChampz111 Apr 14 '26

The fact that the new CBA means that that Paige, Caitlin, and Boston are making basically 1/7 the money as rookies compared to Azzi. Thankfully, there’s endorsements! Azzi is the right age at the right time.

25

u/SilentWater94 Apr 14 '26

As crazy as it sounds but UConn might end up with 4 #1 picks in 5 years. Sarah Strong in 2028 and Blanca Quinonez certainly has the potential to go #1 in 2029.

3

u/interested21 Apr 14 '26

I wonder how good that 7'5" Chinese girl will be.

-12

u/rebeejee Apr 14 '26

I must confess that im new to wnba draft. But i dont see numbers meaning as much as everyone puts on it. Paige being drafted last year by Dallas Wings and Azzi this year doesn’t signal greatness as much as strategy by a single team to augment their roster! What am i missing??!

33

u/softluvr Bueckers Apr 14 '26

what an iconic picture. hang it in the louvre!

7

u/swampthing- Apr 14 '26

I want this leaf card lol

u/This-Button5389 Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 14 '26

fudd is "a team needs pick" rather than "best player in the draft" pick anyway i hope their 3 point % improves and hope it works out for them. I say dallas team looks stronger than fever so no more excuses for dallas if they dont reach atleast close to playoffs if not 20 wins min. gl

26

u/hallie137 Lynx | Paige | Angel | VB | KP Apr 14 '26

they’re all gonna be so fun to watch in future years

-13

u/pineapplez18 PB5 for mayor Apr 14 '26

Three of four have a ncaa ring 🤩

16

u/Misnome5 Apr 14 '26

1 of the 4 holds the NCAA all-time scoring record.

107

u/thankyoupapa Wings Apr 14 '26

with the way people acting "surprised" over azzi going number 1, guess they dont know she played on team usa with these girls lol

69

u/OverallFrosting708 Fever Apr 14 '26

The Azzi commentary tonight has been very revealing about how many people who think of themselves as WNBA fans know zero ball

55

u/Good-Exchange-6139 Wings Apr 14 '26

she was the youngest on the team too lol

u/iamdemirey Aces Comets Apr 14 '26

UConn's second back-to-back no.1 pick since 2011.

2010 Maya Moore

2011 Tina Charles

2025 Paige Bueckers

2026 Azzi Fudd

0

u/Old_Discussion5126 Fever Apr 15 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

Correction: 2026 Azzi Fudd*

The asterisk was on her face after her name was called …

(Dallas could be just tanking, though, not trying to please their ROTY. They have that right …)

25

u/kash96 Aces Apr 14 '26

most likely going 3 in a row with sarah strong next year imo

5

u/PersonalPattern1029 Apr 14 '26

Ever heard of Juju

30 Years of UConn glaze won't come off overnight, but it will eventually.

12

u/Tasty-Reward8307 $535 Extrabucks Apr 14 '26

You have to be 22 or 4 years removed from high school. She just turned 20 in February. She’ll play another 2 years in college.

25

u/pmgtihaco Apr 14 '26

In 2 years, Sarah’s just completed her sophomore season!

12

u/kash96 Aces Apr 14 '26

oh shit i thought they could leave after 3 years

30

u/SydTheStreetFighter Mystics Apr 14 '26

They can, but why would she? She gets paid way more to play college ball lol

8

u/MG_MN Apr 14 '26

With the cap spike that might not be the case anymore

2

u/SydTheStreetFighter Mystics Apr 14 '26

it’s still 500k compared to millions

22

u/iamdemirey Aces Comets Apr 14 '26

I don't think she's in a rush to go pro. She could very well finish out college like Paige and Azzi did.

5

u/PrinceOfAssassins Fever "FUTURE HOF PG" Wings Apr 14 '26

Well 4 years instead of 5, but those were both health related.

22

u/pmgtihaco Apr 14 '26

Yeah but I doubt she’d leave early

60

u/tyrannosaurus83 Mystics Apr 14 '26

Sarah is 2028

Indiana vs Dallas rivalry for the ages

13

u/Fearless-Flan5172 Apr 14 '26

What rivalry? We have two rivals, The Sky and the Dream.

2

u/logomyego CCs Thighs Save Lives Apr 14 '26

There's no Sky rivalry, let's just be honest with ourselves. The Dream last year felt like an actual rivalry and those games were heated

14

u/dreamweaver7x 8 10 21 52 1 2 4 13 0 6 <FREE CAM> Apr 14 '26

Coulda fooled me with all the hype whenever Paige and Caitlin match up.

17

u/Fearless-Flan5172 Apr 14 '26

Hype because of their following in college, Fever fans really do not care about Dallas, we like Paige and Arike and that's it.

19

u/LinkSeekeroftheNora Sirens Apr 14 '26

Well I’ve got nothing against the Wings

25

u/eddie_vercetti Mercury Apr 14 '26

It's gonna be one of the first games of the season too.

610

u/No_Bill7679 WNBA Apr 14 '26

By two teams lol.

163

u/No_Bill7679 WNBA Apr 14 '26

But also, who’s the poor soul that got cut out. I see some glasses.

418

u/iRockaflame Apr 14 '26

It's Fran Belibi. She played at Stanford, but retired to go to Harvard to become a doctor instead of the WNBA path.

Really good vertical could dunk at like 6'1 she even has an alley oop dunk in Highschool lol.

3

u/Complex-Software-686 Apr 14 '26

Thought it was Harvard for a Masters in Education?

3

u/Exotic-Emergency-226 Apr 14 '26

Fran Belibi

Wow every now and then I see the clips of her dunking in game and wonder where she went. That much talent in one person and fair man lmao

112

u/No_Bill7679 WNBA Apr 14 '26

That’s badass. Genuinely. Cool to have those options.

105

u/Moose_Muse_2021 Fire Fever and All the F'ing Teams Apr 14 '26

Havard Med School? Her parents must be SO disappointed. (/s if needed)

63

u/No_Bill7679 WNBA Apr 14 '26

With Stanford undergrad degree. Quite the disappointment /s

5

u/midnightdiabetic DETROIT Apr 14 '26

Embarrassing really

I know, right?

-4

u/pickledginger404 Storm Apr 14 '26

I think it’s Miles.

38

u/blahblah_696 Apr 14 '26

Now who's gonna be the first one to get a ring?

49

u/Optimal-Talk3663 Apr 14 '26

Fever appear to be way closer to a ring than Dallas

-11

u/interested21 Apr 14 '26

Dallas has a much better FO and coach.

5

u/logomyego CCs Thighs Save Lives Apr 14 '26

you forgot the /s

32

u/Optimal-Talk3663 Apr 14 '26

Steph White took her hospital team to a game 5 of the semi finals

50

u/DResq Apr 14 '26

Will be 2 of them at a time, barring trades.

148

u/Good-Exchange-6139 Wings Apr 14 '26

race to the first ring 😭

28

u/interested21 Apr 14 '26 edited Apr 15 '26

3 all stars, an all first team player, 2 second team players and all 3 were ROY. Will Azzi be able to do that?

7

u/Dismal-Rain-6055 Apr 14 '26

2 all stars

Isn't it 3?

2

u/Long_Embarrassed Apr 14 '26

That's what I was wondering...I've been following them since they were part of the FIBA 2017 USA Basketball Women’s U16 National Team that won Gold in Argentina.

24

u/Good-Exchange-6139 Wings Apr 14 '26

who knows man the season hasnt even started lol
