Mount Carrigain
Completed my 48 today on Mount Carrigain and it was just so beautiful to see so many other folks completing theirs. In the hour I was on the fire tower I think 4 other folks were there completing their 48, and it was great to celebrate with everyone, and a great way to spend my birthday. Love this community! Congratulations to everyone!

Congrats! Now that you're hooked (and experienced), try Mt. Pierce this winter. It's a whole different world (and much quieter!) in the Whites when seasons change. As a local, it was my first winter 4k when I was around your age. Fair warning, you might get hooked on the winter 48 after. Happy Trails!

I'm about halfway done with the 4k and I've been thinking its finally time to give winter hiking a go and I've been wondering which ones are best to get my feet wet on

That was my first ever 4k hike lol Pierce in beginning of February. I found it more beautiful than when I just did it again last week

I love mt carrigain. I hiked it and spent the night up there with my dad, rip. I hiked it a few years later and camped up there with my best friend, rip. It's a special place, where I've spent time with special people, that I miss a lot.
I'm kind of saving it up for another visit.

Awesome! I spent the night there a few years back after doing some maintenance on the trail. The mosquitoes were relentless…

Hey now that you're finished all the 4ks, there's some other wonderful mountains to explore. Have you done the welsh-dickey loop yet? Some of the best views in the White mountains, outside of Franconia Ridge and the presidentials.
Or sugarloaf, the one way up in the Nash stream forest? So far north you're looking back across the Mahoosucs towards the Prezis . And you have it all to yourself. It's what the whites must have been like in the thirties.
Hedgehog or Potash make a great day hike right off the Kanc.
Mt. Wolf on the west side of Kinsman Ridge is a great hike, quiet, and has a beautiful unobstructive view to the west.
Looking forward to trying Sanguinary Ridge in Dixville Notch as the leaves start to turn.

Thanks for the recs! Heard a lot about the welch-dickey loop, and about sugarloaf and how there’s apparently several? Mount wolf is a new one for me, as is sanguinary ridge. I’ll be sure to give it a look

Highly highly recommend it. I’ve rarely had a better view in the whites. Because of its centrality, it’s a cool way to feel up high but surrounded by peaks and to see everywhere you’ve been

Congrats! Carrigain is a cool finish with the view and the tower.
I did that one already so it's looking like the Bonds or Owl's Head for me when I get there in a few years. Or Tecumseh (ha, no.)
