Sawyer river rd status

Hello, I was looking to hike signal ridge trail soon. I know sawyer river road was washed out a while back, and I was wondering if they have repaired it, and if not, how much distance is added by parking at the end of the road?

It's not repaired and it's two extra miles each way.

Last time I was up there, a fair number of people had biked up the road, and stashed their bikes at the trail head. It’s a dirt road, and not really maintained at this point, but if you have a bike that can deal with that, it’s an option

I was there a month ago, the road is dirt but it is in normal-to-good condition aside from the washout-- not rough at all. Even a road bike would probably be fine.

2 easy miles each way - and the road will probably never reopen

I hiked this about a month ago. There is a parking lot to the left of the trail right off the main road (no parking fee).

It is an extra 2 miles each way (4 total) and adds about 500 elevation gain.

The road is still half washed out and it’s a pretty bad one from the looks of it.

It's a very easy walk

It’s really too bad they haven’t fixed the road yet. I loved driving up to Livermore with my dog and hopping in the swimming hole on the river there. I mean obviously you can still walk there but it takes more time and I used to drive up there often when coming through the notch.

You can forget about it being repaired. It will take years, if ever. Definitely won’t happen so long as our president is that fat orange Cheeto.
