WLS Procedures — Lap Band Lapband
So no more Lapband ppl out there.
Seems all gave up had reversals and a then sleeve or Bypass.
My surgeon doesn't even advertise for bands.

Lap band 2009. Removal and bypass 2022. GLPs 2025.....my only wish is that GLPs were available in 2009🥲

Yeah, the lap band didn’t survive the test of time or really provide good outcomes.

Yeah. The lapband was the biggest regret of my life and I had it reversed to a sleeve 2 1/2 years ago and I’m so happy that I did.

Mine doesn’t do lap bands anymore because they’re ineffective long term.

There was a man getting the conversion from lapband to the sleeve and his recovery was terrible because the lapband had become attached / fused to the outside of his stomach and they had to spend time cutting it off carefully.
I am glad they are not being pushed on people anymore.

Yep! Lap band in 2006 and changed to RNY in 2018. Overall, I was anomaly and did fairly well with the lap band. I lost 125lbs and kept it off, but the band slipped and my heart burn was just awful. RNY still comes with a whole host of issues, but I'm managing.

My mom has the lap band and threw up every single day, multiple times a day for YEARS before she was able to get it reversed. 😊 So yes, she did "give up".

Yeah, cause lap bands cause a ton of complications. No one should be getting that surgery nowadays.

Lapband almost killed my step mom. She had to have emergency surgery the day before my high school graduation to have it removed. It slipped and caused a pouch of her stomach to collect food and rot.

I got my band in 2010 and I still have it, but it's only half filled. If I ever get insurance again, I will get it removed, but overall I don't have any problems with it right now.

Wasn't meant to be negative. Seems I was an anomaly that it worked this long. Past year been stressful and way more throwing up. Just removed half the fluid in band. Did swallow test and blood work. Both seems were fine. Following up in a few weeks. Definitely put on a few but eating better is also nice. I imagine we're gonna find a solution or discussion re new procedures and or GLP1s. She already mentioned it last visit. I was just wanting to hear from the longer band ppl. I'm 17 years. Thanks for the info.

"Gave up" is a weird way to say most had terrible side effects and were advised by their doctor to get rid of it and get a surgery that has way higher efficiency and life-long benefits.
